Certified Emergency Medic works in a full service Emergency Department (ED), treating all ages.
This roles assumes the responsibility for assisting with the implementation of supportive nursing care under the direction of the Registered Nurse and Medical Director.
The Certified Emergency Medic provides patient care within a defined scope of practice that includes patient care/observation, specified treatments and procedures; The Certified Emergency Medic will also be responsible to collect pertinent data within their certification of responsibilities and report these clinical, psychosocial, etc., findings to the RN or ED Medical Director and charts appropriately.
Works in collaboration with RNs and Medical Providers to provide patient care to adult and trauma patients utilizing advanced skills and judgment.
Certified Emergency Medic will be responsible for ECG interpretation, IV therapy, airway patency, and initiation of approved protocol orders and guidelines of care for patients in the ED setting.
Adheres to safety guidelines for patients and staff as evidenced by compliance with policies. ( Standard precautions, recognizing and reporting signs of abuse/neglect in all patient populations, isolation with high-risk patients when identified, and National Patient Safety Goals (two patient identifiers, Hand Hygiene, etc. )Reports equipment malfunctions, environmental and housekeeping issues to the appropriate department in a timely manner.
Complies with established policies and guidelines for Midas risk entry completion and reporting of events, employee exposures, and/or injuries.

Work experience requirements:
Preferred- One year experience in a hospital setting as a Paramedic or two years experience as a Paramedic in a pre-hospital setting.
Completion of a basic arrhythmia or monitor tech class within 90 days or successfully passes dysrhythmia testing with 100%.
