Who we want

The Driver Substitute will transport HIPsters on various pick-up and drop-off routes. The safety of our HIPsters is the most important part of our programs. As the Driver substitute you would be giving our Hipsters access to engaging activities through our organization. You will transport our Hipsters to multiple different activities and outings to encourage relationship building and learning.

Essential Functions:

• Drive a bus or van to assigned pickup/drop-off locations as assigned and safely transporting HIPsters to appropriate destination
• Supervise HIPsters on routes to and from My Possibilities
• Complete additional tasks assigned by the direct supervisor and/or Education Program Manager
• Enforce administration policies and rules governing HIPsters
• Be flexible and open to assisting any department at My Possibilities

Competencies (Knowledge, skills, and abilities):

• Experience working with adults with special needs a plus
• Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills (sign language a plus)
• Use Microsoft Office applications such as Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word for reports and communication

Education/Experience:

• High school diploma/GED required
• Experience driving a multi-passenger bus or van a plus
• Experience working with special needs individuals a plus
• CDL a plus

Specific Skills:

• Current driver's license, clear driving record and valid car insurance required
• Willing to get certification in CPR/First Aid/AED/SAMA or CPI/HIPAA

Supervisory responsibilities:

• Will oversee and ensure that HIPsters are safe while being transported and engaged when in classrooms, halls, cafeteria, and gymnasium, or on community based instructional opportunities

Working conditions:

This position will be required to:

• Sit, stand, and bend throughout the day
• Occasionally lift up to 75 lbs
• Be exposed to outdoor climate
• Clean up body fluids to maintain safety and dignity of HIPsters

All potential employees must pass a background check and drug screen test.
