Mardan is a not-for-profit school for students in grades K through 12 with special academic, social, and emotional needs. We are located in Irvine CA. Our mission is to improve the academic and emotional well-being of any child who struggles with learning, social, and emotional challenges. We provide a safe, therapeutic learning environment that teaches the academic, social, and coping skills needed for students to experience success. Our school uses a therapeutic, approach to help students who typically have average to above average intelligence.

Overview

We are looking for an experienced, licensed OT who can make a difference in the lives of our students by performing services during the school day per each student's IEP. This position is being developed with flexibility, and can be designed to meet the employee's and Mardan's mutual needs. The school year is 11 months long and runs from mid-August in year 1 to mid-July in year 2. Although the position will require a fixed, consistent schedule, that schedule can be developed to accommodate both the employee's and the school's needs.

Responsibilities

We are looking for either:

• A fully licensed OT to supervise a COTA (who will perform 6-9 hours of direct therapy weekly per a student's IEP), conduct consultations with teachers and/or parents per a student's IEP (estimated at 3-4 hours per week), write IEP goals and attend IEP meetings (estimated at 18-24 hour per year). OR
• A fully licensed OT to perform 6-9 hours of direct therapy weekly per a student's IEP, conduct consultations with teachers and/or parents in accordance with a student's IEP (estimated at 3-4 hours per week), write IEP goals and attend IEP meetings (estimated at 18-24 hour per year).

There is a possibility that the OT may be asked to perform school based assessments from time to time, if mutually agreeable.

The OT must also:

- Collaborate with the school team

- Maintain accurate patient records and documentation

- Provide education to students and families on therapeutic techniques and home exercises as dictated by the student's IEP

- Engage in case management to coordinate care plans and services effectively

Qualifications

- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Occupational Therapy

- State licensure as an Occupational Therapist

- Proficiency in medical terminology and physiology knowledge

- Strong understanding of anatomy and its application in therapy

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective interaction
