    The City and County of Honolulu, Department of Information Technology, Applications Division is hiring for a Computer Programmer II position in Honolulu.

    Under the general supervision of a Senior Analyst, this position functions as an advanced software developer trainee responsible for writing or modifying existing computer programs and assists in the analysis, design, development, implementation, and troubleshooting of various computer software.


    Duties will include supporting simple and major information technology applications for a single user department or for the City enterprise through the use of established departmental information technology policies, procedures, practices, and methods and assisting with documenting user requirements, writing procedures, instructions, and guidelines for the users on the use of computer software.


    There are opportunities to take training courses and receive on-the-job training to improve your skills as a programmer to later move up into other positions within the City (e.g., Software Developer, Data Processing Systems Analyst).

    EDUCATION REQUIREMENT
    :


    Equivalent to graduation from a regionally-accredited four-year college or university with major work in public or business administration, accounting, mathematics or a related field.

    Education obtained outside of the United States must be comparable to a degree earned at a regionally-accredited college/university in the United States.

    In order to receive credit for the education, a foreign credential evaluation (FCE) must be provided.

    Substitution:

    EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT
    :

    Six months of stored computer programming experience.

    Substitution :


    A Bachelor's degree in Information and Computer Science (ICS), Management Information Systems (MIS), or a Computer Science/Information Technology related field from a regionally-accredited four-year college or university may substitute for the six months of stored computer programming experience.

    Verification Requirement :
