    SUMMARY:

    Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) Coordinator is responsible for monitoring, implementing and maintaining a variety of HSE programs to ensure compliance with federal, state and local rules and regulations at the MAHLE Industrial Thermal Systems America, LP (MITSA). Must be proactive in building safety into new product manufacturing and/or testing services. Candidate will enjoy working with multiple departments and multiple levels of team members, as well as drive GEMBAs as a part of the safety culture, are a stickler for details and ensuring team members work in compliance with all policies and procedures which support certification to ISO-14001:2015 and compliance to ISO Role is highly visible within the businesses and infectious for engaging people toward a safety culture. You are a proactive member of the operations team and are comfortable around equipment and people, understanding that the team members drive the HSE culture.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintain policies, procedures, records, programs and reporting related to health, safety &
  • environment (HSE) practices and requirements.
  • Ensure federal, state and local HSE laws, codes and regulations are observed and followed.
  • Stay current on code and/or regulation changes and recommend updates to policies and procedures as needed.
  • Communicate and train employees on HSE requirements.
  • Serve as the ISO 14001:2015 and ISO 45001 site representative.
  • Oversee implementation / maintenance of the Environmental Management System (EMS).
  • Lead weekly GEMBAs with cross-department team members and monitor/report on the follow-up activities with operations.
  • Pro-actively work with all departments in the incorporation, maintaining and improving 5S methodologies to reduce risk, improve productivity and contribute to a healthy work environment.
  • Communicate policy clearly / efficiently while working collectively to resolve issues within work environments.
  • Ensure management takes ownership and that all team members support and maintains work environments that are safe, organized, and meet legal obligations.
  • Maintain / communicate emergency response plans and respond to emergencies as needed.
  • Responsible for oversight of waste management.
  • Respond in a timely manner to any corporate requirements relating to HSE.
  • Report monthly injury/illness and hours worked along with environment data into the Gensuite / Benchmark System and upload into the Business Warehouse (BW) system.
  • Submit and maintain monthly, quarterly, annual reports as required by stormwater, SARA Tier 2, NPDES, MAERS and Renewable Operating Permit (ROP).
  • Renew Agency permits as required.
  • Maintain compliance with the Spill Prevention Control and Countermeasure Plan requirements.
  • QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Certified Health & Safety or a related field (Associates or Bachelor's degree preferred)
  • Experience in authoring Business Process Documentation, Technical Documents, Flow Diagrams, etc.
  • 3-5 years HSE experience; 2 years direct experience in manufacturing environment
  • Storm Water testing certification (receiving / maintaining certification required for role). – Eagle site
  • Experience in ISO Environment Management.
  • Lead projects, coordinate resources and ensure compliance by all team members.
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP), OSHA30 certification, Lean Six Sigma Certification - preferred
  • Experience training floor personnel, as well as building relationships with all team members.
  • Strong computer skills.
  • Proactive communication (verbal and written) and proficient public speaker
  • Excellent attention to detail, conscientious and diligent.
  • Ability to read and interpret government documents.
  • Ability to write reports in compliance with plant, customer and/or regulatory requirements.
