    The Pharmacy Technician is responsible for the overall care of the facilities and serve as their primary point of contact. They are responsible for processing new prescriptions received from the facilities, managing resident profiles, providing customer service, and coordinating with other departments to ensure the customer's needs are met. They will also assist with dispensing of prescriptions under the direct supervision of a pharmacist and in accordance with state pharmacy regulations.


    Main Responsibilities
    • Inputs patient data and medication orders into a computer system to produce labels (data entry)
    • Communicates with internal and external customers in a pleasant and professional manner
    • Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned facilities, coordinating with other departments when necessary
    • Maintains open communication and works on clarifications with all assigned facilities and physicians
    • Process all inbound faxes from assigned facilities and triage new prescriptions, update resident profiles, enter literal orders and discontinue required medications
    • Fills prescription items, as permitted by the State Board of Pharmacy, packaging medications for dispensing and for delivery, meeting the accuracy and productivity standards of the pharmacy
    • Labels products appropriately, including cautionary or auxiliary labels
    • Participates in the periodic inventory of the pharmacy
    • May process returned medications from the facility for credit or destruction
    • Assists in the training of new employees
    • Follows the policies on triaging new prescriptions, ensuring all information is complete
    • Escalates all concerns to the Pharmacy Manager immediately
    • Assists other Pharmacy technicians when needed
    • Answers telephones and fields questions accordingly
    • Performs other tasks as assigned

    Qualifications

    Education/Learning Experience

    • Required: HS diploma, GED, or Equivalent Work Experience
    • Required: Experience in a pharmacy and customer service setting
    • Required: Ability to operate a computer; ability to recognize and identify medications, communicate clearly and professionally
    • Desired: Specialty pharmacy Experience Skills/Knowledge
    • Desired: Experience with Specialty pharmacy software (QS1/PrimeRx preferred)

    Licenses/Certifications

    • Preferred: PA Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) Behavior Competencies
    • Required: Detail oriented; goal oriented, team player, effective oral communication
