You will develop critical legal expertise while working side by side with our experienced attorneys The Associate Attorney is an in-house position that will handle a designated caseload of approximately cases appearances before the CA State Workers' Compensation Boards in Los Angeles and Ventura counties. This position will be part of collaborative learning environment with onsite appearances in partnership with our Senior Attorney Staff. The team is committed to personal growth as we strive to provide excellent customer service to our insureds.     RESPONSIBILITIES:


    • Analyze legal and factual issues, conduct extensive, well-reasoned legal research, independently develop and present defense strategies on behalf of clients in a hybrid case inventory of lien and full defense files.


    • Prepare pleadings, written discovery, depositions, motions and briefs in support of defense strategies with supervision


    • Responsible for handling lien litigation and occasional full defense strategies
    • Provide effective and timely communication, information, legal advice and other services to clients on legal and factual issues


    • Communicate with the court, witnesses, opposing counsel and co-counsel in a manner consistent with established office procedures


    • Accountable for the prompt, efficient and effective disposition of assigned cases
    • Independently prepare and present witnesses evidence at: trials, judicial/administrative hearings, arbitrations and alternative dispute resolutions
    • Attend CLE seminars as needed

    QUALIFICATIONS:


    • Minimum of 2 years of legal experience with a portion of that legal experience being in worker's compensation


    • Juris Doctorate (JD) from accredited law school and licensed to practice in the state of California in good standing


    • Functional understanding of claims and litigation is preferred


    • Familiarity with the tripartite relationship is a plus


    • Commitment to providing a high level of customer service


    • Positive minded and collaborative team-player attitude


    • Excellent legal research and writing skills


    • Strong MS Office proficiency (Word, Excel, PowerPoint & Outlook)


    • Effective communicator with strong negotiation skills


    • Ability to think strategically and desire to be challenged
