    Qualifications

    Requirements

    • Bachelor's degree in a STEM field or equivalent professional experience
    • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively orally and in writing.
    • Strong commitment to student learning, quality teaching, and academic excellence.
    • Ability to motivate and teach students of diverse learning styles and backgrounds.
    • Appreciation and respect for student role, contribution, and responsibility in the learning process.
    • Commitment to personalized education and the Chapman Experience in the Lab room.

    Desired Qualifications:

    • A completed or in progress graduate degree in STEM discipline
    • University or community college teaching experience, specifically with introductory STEM courses, such as introductory chemistry lab, general chemistry lab 1, general chemistry lab 2, organic chemistry lab 1, and/or organic chemistry lab 2.
    Responsibilities

    • Teach one or 2 assigned 4hour lab sections once per week throughout the semester.
    • Each week includes presenting a prelaboratory lecture about the lab material, instructing and guiding students in correct laboratory technique and safety during the execution of a laboratory experiment, holding office hours, attending instructor meetings, and grading all assignments submitted by the students.
    • The possible laboratory section times are weekdays 8:0011:50 AM, 1:004:50 PM, or 6:009:50 PM, depending on availability.
    • The instructor must be available to attend lab instructor orientations before the start of the semester.

    Successful completion of a background check is required for the final candidate. The pay range for course and course related work for this position is $44.32 per hour.
