    As Manufacturing Engineer you will be responsible for;This person will be tasked with working alongside LEAN Engineers and Tooling Engineers on material movements within the shop, both coming into the warehouse and leaving the warehouse.

    This position will work in different stages from small to large sub assembly, seeing parts that need to be installed and then put back on the floor.

    Centralized in one location storing all of the of parts and the work in progress parts for the next stage of the manufacturing process.

    This person will ensure dedication to the next round of work on the floor and make the team as LEAN as possible.

    The goal is to refocus engineering time and effort back on the product on itself, getting away from warehousing.
    Being able to improve the quality of storage and logistical flow of the material is key.
    The number one priority is to clean up and move the product through the cabinet shop.

    Employ appropriate LEAN & Continuous Improvement tools to observe and analyze operations, define improvements, implement associated projects to optimize processes.

    Actively leads to a continuous improvement culture within the workplace by deploying current and future LEAN Standards across the Facility.

    Teaches LEAN methodology and associated tools (5S, POUS, 5Whys, Root Cause analysis, value stream mapping) to analyze and optimize activity with the operations team.

    Identifies value-added and non-value-added steps. Maps future state conditions including opportunities for improvement and action plans.

    Coordinate with all areas and departments at Facility Level to ensure appropriate information flow and understanding of overall process improvement direction.

    Ensures standardization across aircraft models and Facility.
    Leads problem solving events (5M, 8D analysis) to eliminate reoccurring problems.
    Develop lists of product / process improvement projects per department and uses Plan-Do
    • Check-Act methodology for implementation in the workplace.
    Prepares materials and supplies needed.
    Leads project implementation and associated LEAN / IT Tools deployment.
    Ensures consistency and communication with Operations / Operations Support Management.
    Teaches LEAN methodology and tools to reduce waste and improve work environment.

    Prepares and conducts process improvement events across facility (Kaizen).Supports operations to follow the defined standards with the same task sequencing across all teams and employee's skillset.

    Develops metrics to evaluate efficiency & trend lines of program.
    Leads in boardwalks & conducts audits to ensure progress.
    Reports daily activities to management including accomplishments, participation, projected activities.
    Teaches problem solving skills/tools across departments to overcome issues and adjusts plan if necessary.

    Implement the MES system by creating Web pages to track materials, labor, repairs, and scrap in work cells on the shop floor.

    Write required scripts for the Shop Order system to pull Shop Orders created in the ERP system (SAP).Assist processing business unit in creation of shop floor work instructionsDevelop and maintain Methods proceduresAssist with process planning changesUnderstanding process flowWriting technical instructions and interrupting customer specificationsCreate visual aids for presentations and shop aids (templates, masking, stickers, etc.)Drawings and specifications, understanding 2D drawings and specificationsPrinting, filing, and help as needed within the Engineering departmentJob requires lifting of product/supplies ranging from minimal to 25 pounds on occasional basisStrict compliance with OSHA & Industrial safety practicesQualifications;The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required.

    This person needs to be able to work in a team environment, but also be able to work with minimal supervision.

    Open different industries outside of aerospace, but logistics experience is required. Preference is a large, enterprise level environment.
    Tenured experience in a fast-paced environmentAbility to understand how to get parts quickly and efficiently moving through the facility.
    An open mind and attitude and logistics mindset vs. someone in aircraft.
    Proposes process changes to storage, improve quality, decrease damage to materials.
    Understanding of the process - such as management of inventory, shelf life, consumables, stock positions.
    Be able to determine future needs for where to push work forward in the warehouse.
    Will workflow from start to finish including extra parts including Flow plans, tooling for storage, etc.
    Be able to work with multidisciplinary groups (i.e. shop floor, management, design engineers, etc.)Proven success in managing multiple concurrent and complex projects, involving internal and external resources.
    Excellent problem-solving skills through detailed action planning Highly proficient in Microsoft Office, SharePoint.
    Good analytical skills.
    Excellent written and verbal communications skills with all levels of personnel.
    LEAN Certificate (Bronze), Six Sigma Certificate (Green belt) or higher is desired.
    Previous experience and/or formal training in Project Management.
    Education/ExperienceBachelor's Degree in Mechanical/Industrial or Aerospace Engineering, Engineering Technology, LEAN Manufacturing or Business Management.
    May substitute one (1) year of college education for two (2) years of work experience.

    Minimum of 3 years of professional experience in manufacturing environment, and/or aircraft/components completions, and/or aircraft maintenance, which includes 2 years of prior LEAN and Continuous Improvement experience.

    Previous experience and/or formal training in Project Management.
    Master's degree in Industrial Engineering or LEAN Manufacturing is desired.
