Job DescriptionDescription:

The Maintenance Technician at Global Polymer is responsible for performing maintenance and repairs, installations and upkeep of production equipment, buildings, and landscapes. Follows the processes of any repair or upkeep with a focus on safety.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Essential functions are those tasks, duties, and responsibilities that comprise the means of accomplishing the job's purpose and objectives. Essential functions are critical or fundamental to the performance of the job. They are the major functions for which the person in the job is held accountable.

Inspects and identifies equipment or machines in need of repair.
Troubleshoots issues to determine necessary repairs. Repairs broken machines quickly and efficiently.
Performs preventative maintenance inspections and service on machines.
Thoroughly cleans machines and machine parts, removing parts and reinstalling as necessary using proper safety protocol.
Oils and lubricates moving parts on machines to ensure effective performance.
Records and reports damaged, worn, or broken parts.
Identifies the causes of unexpected breakdowns of machines.
Plans repair work using building blueprints or equipment processes as necessary.
Performs general repairs to the facility (drywall, painting, repairing doors or other building fixtures.
Performs routine maintenance on building systems.
Prepares reports documenting work performed.
Cleans, organizes, inventories, stocks and otherwise maintains shop areas, parts, tools and supplies.
Cleans and assists with upkeep of the facilities.
Inspect equipment, facilities and conditions to audit and verify company's compliance with safety guidelines.
Troubleshoot problem areas and create a clear plan of action for fixing necessary items.
Oversees repairs and planned preventative maintenance program.
Monitor employee conformity to safety laws and policies and create a work environment with safety as a high priority.
Perform evaluations of employees to ensure quality of work.
Suggest solutions, improvements, and prevention steps for safety issues.
Conduct risk assessments for maintenance team members.
Ability to administer first aid and use of AED when appropriate.

Requirements:

EDUCATION & TRAINING REQUIREMENTS

High school diploma or equivalent required.
Advanced education in related field preferred.
5 years' experience in Maintenance required.
Previous managerial experience highly preferred.

WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Knowledge and experience maintaining a variety of mechanical systems.
Knowledge of building systems such as plumbing, electrical and HVAC.
Ability to identify issues and determine repairs that are needed.
Ability to maintain building systems, snow removal, landscaping and facilities upkeep.
Always makes safety a priority.
Mechanically inclined with great problem-solving skills
The ability to make effective decisions under pressure.
Works well independently and with others.
Reliable, responsible, dependable, fulfilling obligations consistently.
Detail-oriented and thorough in completing work tasks.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS – PHYSICAL & MENTAL REQUIREMENTS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear.
This position requires sitting, standing, walking, and occasionally bending all day long.
Occasional lifting up to 50 lbs.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
Normal memory, taking into consideration the amount and type of information.
