    Summary:
    The Marketing Content Specialist is a creative thinker and passionate storyteller responsible for crafting compelling content.

    Utilizing various digital mediums, the Marketing Content Specialist will primarily focus on telling the story of Davidson Day School to enhance new student/family recruitment, current student/family retention, and foster alumni community connections.

    The Marketing Content Specialist is an enthusiastic people-person comfortable with interviewing and talking with all members of our school community to understand and share those attributes that make Davidson Day a unique learning environment.

    This non-exempt role reports to the Director of Marketing & Communications and works in partnership with the Advancement Team (Marketing and Communications, Admissions, and Philanthropy) to promote the mission and brand of Davidson Day School.


    Essential Functions:


    Produce and/or edit print and digital content for diverse mediums, including blogs, prospective family appeals, publications, news briefs, donor appeals, stewardship pieces, email communications, digital newsletters, and social media.

    Develop engaging, accurate, and persuasive copy tailored to key constituencies, incorporating creative narratives that effectively communicate Davidson Day's unique story.

    Write comprehensive print and digital pieces strategically promoting school initiatives (special projects support) customized to individual constituents.

    Capture photos and videos of faculty, staff, classroom activities, student events, and campus life for use in various marketing materials.

    Manage the school's social media presence, including, but not limited to, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, and YouTube.

    Collect, curate, and produce all content, ensuring it is engaging, dynamic, current, and aligned with Davidson Day's mission and vision.

    Stay up-to-date on social media and digital content trends and leverage those insights to inform our creative strategy. Reviews and uses social media analytics to measure success and develop new ideas.

    Collaborate with the Director of Marketing and Communications to maintain a communications calendar, disseminating regular releases and a weekly community digital newsletter.

    Also, help maintain the editorial calendar for publications, generating ideas based on industry trends and school initiatives.

    Develop partnerships with admissions and academic directors to collaborate and execute academic-focused content that amplifies and strengthens the Davidson Day brand on various marketing platforms.

    Interview and tell the stories of the school community, including alumni, faculty, staff, students, and donors.
    Copyedit, fact-check, and proofread materials to ensure consistency and accuracy.
    Conduct short-form video editing for social media and the web and basic layout work within Adobe InDesign and Premiere.
    Use Canva to create branded graphic pieces for marketing and promotional materials and communications.
    Work a flexible schedule to cover and assist with events, including evenings and weekends, as needed.

    Supervisory Responsibilities:
    This position may occasionally supervise students or student groups for a new Davidson Day School Marketing Intern program.


    Required Education and Experience:
    Bachelor's degree (marketing, communications, journalism, or English preferred).
    At least one year of marketing and professional writing experience or equivalent comparable experience.
    Experience in marketing, advertising, public relations, and publications.
    Demonstrated excellent writing and editing skills with a focus on correct grammar and syntax.
    Experience working with social media.
    Excellent research, interviewing, and communication skills.
    High level of creativity, attention to detail, and project management skills.
    Photography and videography experience.
    Familiarity with Blackbaud (or other Content Management System [CMS]) is preferred.
    Intermediate-level proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop), Canva, and video editing software.
