Wound Care Nurse

As the Wound Care Nurse, you will provide primary skin care to individuals, focusing on treatment and therapy of skin disorders. Moreover, you will assist in adjusting the treatment plan to address both the physical and psychosocial requirements of the individual, following established medical practices and the guidelines of this state and facility.

• Collaborates with the Director of Nursing and/or other licensed nursing staff on dermatologic issues of individuals at the facility.
• Identifies, manages, and treats specific skin problems, pressure ulcers, primary and secondary lesions, and any skin conditions as directed. Consults with the IDT for assessment evaluations and contributes to planning and implementing skin care interventions. Implements and upholds established policies and procedures for skin care treatments and explains them when necessary to the physician and responsible party.
• Administers treatment for skin conditions as prescribed by the physician, following established protocols and under physician supervision.
• Ensures individuals with decubitus ulcers, vascular ulcers, and various other skin conditions receive appropriate treatment and prophylactic care, such as regular inspection, repositioning, activity, nutrition, and incontinence management.

Education and/or Experience:

• Minimum of two years of experience in wound care is preferred.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

• Must be a Registered Nurse with valid state licensure.
• Current CPR certification required.
