- Minimum of five years technical experience in a PeopleSoft/PeopleTools environment with the ability to identify tables used in common business practices is preferred.
- Experience with PeopleSoft HCM and demonstrated knowledge of electronic document imaging and workflow systems.
- Experience working with PeopleSoft Application Designer.
- Experience in writing queries using Query Manager, BI Publisher Query and/or SQR based upon tables being used in various components.
- Experience using, troubleshooting, and maintaining XMLReporting, Integration Broker, Excel Macro and PeopleSoft Security technology are a plus.
- Sound experience utilizing SQL tools such as SQL Developer and/or TOAD for troubleshooting and analysis as well as code logic development.
- Experience using PeopleTools 8.59 or higher using App Designer, Data Mover, Oracle Database, etc.
- Experience with software testing, data conversion, data migration, application upgrades and updates, implementation coordinator and activities.
- Experience providing technical support to an HR Department is a plus.

Position Summary
The PeopleSoft HCM Analyst/Programmer is responsible for providing administrative systems programming and analysis operations support for the mission critical HCM administrative system in use by staff, faculty, and student employees at San Diego State University. SDSU utilizes Oracle PeopleSoft for HCM (HR) systems, including Employee Self-Service and Manager Self-Service. The HCM Analyst will provide technical analyst/programmer support to analyze administrative systems user and data needs and issues, determine and evaluate solution approaches, research, architect/design, develop and code solutions and interfaces using the best enabling Oracle technologies that are supported for Oracle PeopleSoft. Aligning these solutions with business requirements to ensure integrity and accountability as well as sound performance and usability, the incumbent will technically design, build, implement and maintain solutions to meet use requirements.
This position requires a strong and sound working knowledge of human resources principles and practices. The HCM Analyst/Programmer will provide on-going technical and analytical support directly to operational users, so excellent working relationships and communication skills with management, staff, and vendors is a requirement of this position.
Following the development guidelines of the California State University Common Management Systems and established procedures for campus-specific development, the HCM Analyst/Programmer will work jointly with the HRIS team to understand business requirements as well as the Applications Operations technical team to recommend and implement best practice technical solutions. The Analyst/Programmer will also review technical programming changes for software releases, upgrades, and modifications and will initiate action to identify and resolve technical problems/issues, develop mitigating steps and actions to ensure timely deliverables, ensure projects success and quality. They will also be responsible for researching and implementing HCM releases, maintenance packs and assisting in the development of thorough test scripts and operational procedures.
This is a full-time (1.0 time-base), benefits eligible, permanent/probationary position. This position is designated exempt under FLSA and is not eligible for overtime compensation. Standard SDSU work hours are Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., but may vary based on operational needs.
This position is eligible for a partial telecommuting schedule with onsite work in San Diego.
Department Summary
A unit of the Information Technology Division, the mission of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) Systems is to provide vision, leadership, strategies, and services in support of the success of students, faculty, staff and administration; and contributes to the overall strategic objectives of the university and the Information Technology Division. ERP Systems provides stewardship over a complex technology infrastructure of systems and databases critical to the university's mission and operation, including student information, financial aid, financials, human resources, document management and workflow, and various other ancillary campus systems. ERP Systems provides resources and services to ensure the collection, storage, management, and accessibility of information within these systems is accurate and timely to help facilitate the success of students, faculty, staff, and administration.
The purpose of the Information Technology (IT) Division is to provide the technology that empowers SDSU's success. The IT Division includes several departments and areas with the shared mission to leverage people and technology to support SDSU's commitment to innovative teaching, research, and service. The IT Division is led by the Chief Information Officer, who is ultimately responsible for developing the long-term infrastructure, services, and strategy necessary to support the University's mission of learning, discovery, and engagement. The IT Division has the stewardship responsibility for core IT assets on campus and the obligation to provide the services, training, and community building necessary to realize the benefits of those investments across the San Diego State University community. The IT Division is made up of 184 staff and 28 administrators.

Education and Experience
To enter this classification, a basic foundation of knowledge and skills in applications programming and systems analysis and related programming support functions is a prerequisite. This foundation would normally be obtained through a bachelor's degree, preferably in computer science or business, or equivalent training and applied experience. Foundation knowledge and skills for the Analyst/Programmer, depending on the position assignment, may include working knowledge of a specific industry standard applications programming language and knowledge of standard systems analysis techniques.

Starting salary upon appointment is not expected to exceed $9,334 per month.
Salary placement is determined by the education, experience, and qualifications the candidate brings to the position, internal equity, and the hiring department's fiscal resources.
