- Lead the formation and implementation of a strategic vision for increasing co-curricular engagement and transformative experiences for all UMBC students through leveraging deep partnerships with colleagues across student affairs, academic affairs, and advancement as well as external partners.
- Foster synergies among career services, civic engagement, and other applied learning initiatives, creating an integrative framework for student development.
- Establish and nurture partnerships with academic colleges to bridge the gap between academic learning and student affairs, fostering a seamless student development ecosystem.
- Supervise the leadership for the Career Center, the Center for Democracy and Civic Life, high-impact experiences and intellectual sports, and student success initiatives within the Division of Student Affairs ensuring programmatic cohesion and transformative power.
- Advocate for and facilitate curricular and co-curricular collaborations that embody a comprehensive educational philosophy grounded in commitments to inclusive excellence, lifelong learning, civic engagement, and holistic well-being.
- Ensure that programs and services across the portfolio support students' holistic development and success during and after their time at UMBC.
- Manage resources strategically to support the division's initiatives in high-impact engagement and transformative learning, maintaining fiscal responsibility.
- Champion experiential learning opportunities that extend education beyond the classroom, advocating for hands-on experiences that connect theory to practice.
- Serve as a member of the Vice President's executive team and represent the VP or division as requested at various meetings and on committees. Required Minimum Qualifications:
- Master's Degree in Higher Education, Student Affairs Administration or another related field.
- Six years of experience in student or academic affairs with progressive leadership experience.
- Demonstrated skill building bridges between academic and student affairs. Proven proficiency in supervision and engaging with diverse constituents. Experience working with, supporting, and creating inclusive communities for a diverse population of students. Past success building innovative high-impact student experiences. Demonstrated experience working effectively with external and corporate partners. Demonstrated experience proactively utilizing data and research to show the impact of curricular and co-curricular collaborations. Preferred Qualifications:

Position Overview:The Assistant Vice President (AVP) for Academic Partnerships and High Impact Experiences will provide strategic leadership for the development of high-impact experiences, student success initiatives, and opportunities that engage internal partners in academic affairs and advancement as well as external partners. This role will oversee the Career Center, the Center for Democracy and Civic Life, and transformative, applied learning, and success-oriented experiences including intellectual sports, first-generation student success programs, and transfer student success.
