    Department This position is with The Florida Center for Reading Research (FCRR), located in Innovation Park at 2010 Levy Avenue.

    FCRR conducts primary research on reading and reading related issues, while also translating research to support the uptake and use of evidence-based practices in schools and communities.

    FCRR accomplishes these activities through several active research projects and through robust partnerships with diverse stakeholders.

    Responsibilities The Program Director provides direction to marketing and communications programs at the Florida Center for Reading Research (FCRR) Innovative Research Dissemination (IRD) Lab with responsibilities for managing internal and external communication, media and public relations, events, and marketing strategy execution.

    Position works with the director, faculty, staff, students, and leadership across FCRR to increase awareness and understanding of the Center's research, innovation, and engagement activities.

    Serves as a leader to the IRD's team in providing graphic, multi-media and research dissemination products that are broadly distributed to a variety of stakeholders.

    Leads the IRD Lab to design and provide high-quality graphic and multi-media services, and to create targeted research dissemination products including infographics, posters, brochures and other print collateral, presentations, videos, audio files, social media posts, media releases, websites, and events.

    Manages internal and external communications. Directs the IRD team by managing, motivating, supervising, and evaluating a team of creative professionals. Oversees projects to provide the highest level of client satisfaction. Works proactively to develop project goals, budget, guidelines, and deadlines to insure timely and cost-effective delivery.

    Qualifications Bachelor's degree and six years of experience related to media, communications, and/or marketing services; Master's degree and/or advanced training in communications, marketing, or a related field.

    Experience developing and/or using innovative programming and communication approaches to disseminate evidence and information from research projects to academic and non-academic audiences.

    Five or more years of experience in a leadership position for communications and marketing, including supervision and training of staff, project management, and fiscal management.

    Five or more years of experience disseminating and communicating research and academic-related content in multiple formats to diverse stakeholders, including academic researchers, teachers, community partners, policymakers, funders, and parents/families.

    Significant, demonstrated professional expertise and experiences within strategic communication and marketing.

    Knowledge of current media technology, trends, standards and best practices (including strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, threats), including responsive design, user-centered design, and approaches that support accessibility.

    Knowledge of the principles and practices of project planning and development, including ability to estimate project costs set and achieve accurate production goals, and evaluate work quality and completeness.

    Expertise generating content to produce a variety of media (e.g., infographics, posters, brochures and other print collateral, presentations, videos, audio files, social media posts, media releases, websites).

    Expertise using Microsoft Office suite of collaboration tools (including SharePoint and Teams) as well as widely used tools, software, and operating/content management systems (e.g., Drupal, Canva, Adobe Creative Cloud, InDesign, Illustrator, PhotoShop, Dreamweaver, YouTube, Facebook, Twitter) and coding languages (C++, Java, HTML) on both Macintosh and PC computers.

    Experience using data analytics to evaluate and monitor the effectiveness of communications and marketing activities.
    Experience planning, organizing, and hosting events with diverse stakeholder groups.

    Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively to accomplish assigned tasks and deliverables on time with minimal error and minimal supervision.

    Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to write and/or proofread and edit publications and materials for a variety of multimedia formats.

    Other Information FCRR communicates and disseminates information to a broad and diverse array of stakeholder groups, including academic researchers, students, teachers, community partners, policymakers, funders, and parents/families locally, nationally, and internationally.

    Currently, IRD is staffed with five media specialists and designers.
    Drawing from multiple disciplines, FCRR investigates all aspects of reading and reading-related skills across the lifespan.

    The successful candidate will have opportunities to contribute to activities across FCRR, including collaborating on research projects, partnerships with local schools and communities, and supporting undergraduate and graduate student training.

    Candidates should expect to be physically in the office and available during standard business hours through email, TEAMS, ZOOM, and phone.

    This position is based in Tallahassee at the Florida Center for Reading Research and may be eligible for a hybrid work schedule up to 2 days per week; however, telecommuting arrangements may be modified to support projects and/or work productivity.

    Monday through Friday; however, candidates can expect to work on some evenings and weekends and to travel within the region, only as needed, to support projects and activities.
