    Duties * Review and processes requests for personnel security investigations and any special access requirements for both civilian and military assign to William Beaumont Army Medical Center (WBAMC) * Execute established policies and procedures required for the personnel security program within the WBAMC.

    * Prepare applications in accordance with instructions ensuring all background information is complete.

    * Conduct local records checks (i.e., Official Personnel File, Criminal Investigation Division (CID), Provost Marshal Office, Medical Records, OPM, etc.) and recommends eligibility of an interim clearance for assigned personnel.

    Requirements Conditions of Employment * Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.

    * This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.

    * This position requires the incumbent obtain the following core SPeD Certification: Security Fundamentals Professional Certification (SFPC) within their first two years of employment.

    * One Year TERM trail period required.

    Specialized Experience:
    One year of specialized experience which includes 1)preparing and maintaining office files to verify personnel security clearances, investigations and security documents in accordance with agency policies and regulation; 2)responding to inquiries and requests for interpretation of personnel security policies, regulations and procedures; 3)conducting security briefings, education and/or inspections; 4)assisting with suitability investigation requirements for employment with the intent of laws mandated by the agency. Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience aloneno substitution of education for experience is permitted.

    Grade Requirement:

    Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-07).

    Additional information * Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration.

    * Position may be filled as a time-limited promotion, reassignment or change to lower grade not to exceed NTE 2 Years by a current permanent Army employee.

    Time-limited promotions may be extended up to a maximum of five years. Time-limited reassignments and changes to lower grade may exceed five years, however return rights may be impacted. Position maybe made permanent without further competition. * Term Appointment


    NTE:
    2 Years - Position may be filled as a term appointment NTE 2 Years. Term appointments may be extended beyond six (6) years, up to eight (8) years. With DoD approval, term appointments may be extended beyond eight (8) years.

    * Current permanent Federal employees (to include permanent Army employees) applying for a term appointment will be appointed/converted into a term appointment with no statutory return rights back to a permanent position.
