    The mission of the Department of Military is to provide a professional staff of Arkansas State Employees who help maintain and improve the readiness of Arkansas National Guard units through effective fiscal management of State Resources, Human Resource Management, and quality administration of Arkansas National Guard Programs.

    Summary


    The DOM Security Officer is an armed officer is responsible for the protection of personnel and resources located on the installation.

    This position is governed by Arkansas law enforcement/security officer standards, state and federal laws, and agency/institution policies/regulations.

    Functions

    Provide armed response to enforce the military installation force protection standards.

    Understand, implement, and enforce military force protection conditions and the escalation requirements based on current threats conditions.

    Control entry to and egress from the location via designated installation/facility access control points (ACP).

    Conduct vehicle inspections in support of the installation security program.

    Patrol/protect location perimeters and Mission Essential or Vulnerable Areas (MEVA) to detect or deter unauthorized entry.


    Monitor Electronic Security Systems (ESS) and devices including Automated Access Control Systems (AACS), Closed Circuit Television (CCTV), Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS), and Security Control Center (SCC) when applicable and initiate appropriate response forces.

    Provide other services necessary to secure Army/Air National Guard (ARNO) resources and personnel.

    Assist DOM Police Officers to conduct initial assessment of incidents, accidents, and security reporting.

    Assist DOM Police Officers in detaining violators, writes incident reports, and testify in court if required.

    Responds to alarms, calls for assistance, checks for locked or unlocked buildings and offices.

    Performs other duties as assigned

    Dimensions

    Ability to work extended periods of time in environmental extremes while performing physically and mentally demanding work. Will be required to work shifts, and duties are subject to change between shifts. Unscheduled mandatory shift coverage will be required to cover staffing shortfalls, as needed. Ability to wear weighed duty equipment and/or personnel protective equipment in extreme temperatures. Ability to patrol an area on foot and/or in a vehicle, apprehend a subject. Direct traffic and perform crowd control. Ability to qualify and demonstrate proficiency with assigned firearm semi-annually.


    Ability to complete initial training and continuing education to maintain proficiency in guard skills, current federal, state, and local laws, Army Regulations, ARNG/ANG Policies, Air Force Regulations, standards of conduct and ethics, unarmed self-defense, and restraint.

    techniques, active shooter response, and necessary training relating to persons with disabilities in a law enforcement context. Additional training may be required for security guards.

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

    Knowledge of general law enforcement methods, traffic laws, rules, and regulations for security.

    Ability to direct traffic and maintain order.

    Ability to prepare reports of incidents and accidents.

    Ability to communicate orally and in writing.

    Ability to operate motor vehicles use d in patrol duties.

    Ability to pass an annual Physical Agility Test (PAT) IAW applicable regulations and state requirements.

    Must pass initial and annual medical and psychological screening IAW applicable agency and/or state requirements.

    Minimum Qualifications

    The formal education equivalent of a high school diploma. Must successfully clear initial and annual Lautenberg Amendment screening/check.

    (Individuals convicted of domestic violence are not eligible for hire or retention.) Additional requirements determined by the agency for recruiting purposes require review and approval by the Office of Personnel Management.
