    Job Description:

    DATA COLLECTION AND ANALYSIS
    Conducts quantitative analysis of longitudinal institutional data, using SQL functions and others to retrieve information. Conducts research involving institutional data collection via student, faculty, and staff surveys.


    DECISION SUPPORT AND REPORTING

    Forecasts and identifies trends, strengths, and weaknesses within graduate education to support the Graduate School Dean in making data-driven decisions to elevate graduate education practices.

    Designs data visualizations, using reporting tools such as Cognos and Tableau, for both internal and external stakeholders.
    Oversees the production of annual reports and recommends goals and outcomes based on findings.

    Supports Institutional Planning and Research in data verification and data requests for external surveys such as Council of Graduate Schools (CGS), Association of American Universities Data Exchange (AAUDE), etc.

    Updates existing projects and consults with academic units to optimize efficiency and ease-of-use for end users.


    OTHER DUTIES
    Creates, manages, and maintains databases in SQL Server. Utilizes automated jobs through tools like SQL Server Agent for efficient management. Assists IT personnel in performance tuning activities to optimize the performance of the SQL Server databases.
    Performs other duties as assigned and conducts ad hoc analysis.
    Develops and maintains proper technical documentation for all designs, specifications, processes, workflows and solutions.


    Expected Salary:
    $68,000 - $75,000 commensurate with experience, qualifications, and education.


    Minimum Requirements:


    A Bachelor's Degree in data science, statistics, bioinformatics, analytics, or similar field and two years of experience; Master's Degree in data science, statistics, bioinformatics, analytics, or similar field.


    Preferred Qualifications:


    Experience in business analysis, project management, designing, testing, debugging and deploying web applications and their related databases in current technologies.

    Experience using query languages such as SQL and BI tools.
    Experience in Tableau, Cognos or similar BI tools
    Experience or training in .NET, ASP, HTML, Java Script and other object-oriented languages is a plus.
    Experience developing technical training or specification documents a plus. Experience with relational databases, PeopleSoft or other student information systems, MS Office Suite, and document imaging software preferred.
    The candidate must be highly analytical, demonstrate problem-solving skills and be able to communicate clearly and effectively.

    The successful applicant will demonstrate an independent work initiative, excellent written and oral communication skills, attention to detail, sound judgment, diplomacy and a professional demeanor.

    A desire to be immersed in the inner workings of the Graduate School at a major research university is strongly preferred.

    The successful candidate should have the desire and ability to learn additional technologies as projects demand.


    SKILLS:
    Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills for project management


    OTHER QUALIFICATIONS:
    Self-starter requiring limited direct supervision who adapts easily to changing work environments and requirements. Graduate Education experience helpful.
