    Position Summary


    This position is responsible for implementation, evaluation, and coordination of treatment programming addressing criminogenic needs, including Substance Use Disorder programming, in accordance with current program standards.

    This requires group preparation and facilitation, review of each participant's practice work, documentation weekly regarding each participant's progress, and completion of a discharge summary.

    This position will work to identify the nature and cause of the client's strengths and weaknesses as they relate to substance use, social functioning, and other treatment areas as identified.

    Upon approval of the Clinical Supervisor, the Treatment Specialist 1 will formulate and implement treatment plans, and provide treatment and guidance in line with accepted modules.

    This position will have consultation and liaison responsibilities with DCC staff, facilitating appropriate referrals for clients with identified needs as well as participants in the addictive/non-addictive programming areas.

    This position is responsible for the development, implementation, and coordination of Substance Use Disorder (SUD) assessments and program recommendations.

    Salary Information


    This position is in pay schedule/range with an annual salary of $55,099 - $67,974, plus a $1.00 to $2.00 add-on based on your AODA credential.

    Pay on appointment for current state employees may vary according to the applicable pay transaction provisions of the State Compensation Plan, Wisconsin Administrative Code, and statutes.

    A twelve-month probationary period is required.


    Candidates with no prior permanent employment with the State of Wisconsin in the past 5 years may be eligible to accept a sign-on bonus of $2,000.

    The sign-on bonus will be paid in two installments: $1000 on the first paycheck and $1000 with the paycheck for the pay period in which the employee attains permanent status (usually 1 year).


    To receive the bonus, a candidate must sign an agreement indicating they will remain in that position for a year.

    If the candidate leaves their position prior to completing the one year, they may be required to reimburse the initial payment.

    Job Details

    Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States (i.e.

    a citizen or national of the U.S., a lawful permanent resident, or an alien authorized to work in the U.S.

    without DOC sponsorship) at the time of application.

    The Department of Corrections may conduct pre-employment drug screens.

    Any applicant who is offered employment in a position which requires a pre-employment drug screen must pass the screen as a contingency of employment.

    The Department of Corrections will conduct criminal background checks on applicants prior to selection. Upon hire, all new DOC employees are subject to fingerprinting.

    • Drugs of abuse and their physiological effects.
    • Research and evidence based alcohol and drug treatment.
    • Effects of alcohol and drugs in human beings.
    • Dynamics of human relations.
    • Interviewing techniques.
    • Problem identification and problem solving techniques.
    • Culturally different values (cultural awareness).
    • Experience with the criminal justice system.
    • Community resources
    • Effective planning principles, practices and techniques
    • Skill in administering and interpreting assessment instruments
    • Techniques for facilitating group and individual counseling.
    • Investigation procedures.

    SPECIAL REQUIREMENT:

    Applicants must hold AODA Certification by possession of, or eligible to obtain upon appointment, SAC-IT, SAC or CSAC from the Wisconsin Department of Safety and Professional Services to be considered for this position.
