Operations Manager - Electronic Assembly, SMT & PCBA

Exciting opportunity to join our growing and well-funded team, based in Woburn MA, developing and manufacturing next-generation LED lighting products and enabling LED light engines and component technologies. In this role, you will report directly to the VP, of Operations, and lead the growth and expansion of a production group.

• You will bring experience and commitment as the leader of a multidisciplinary production team of technicians, engineers, and production resources.
• Your responsibilities will cover all aspects of the production operations, engineering, and quality control.

Description of Role:

• Senior management position with initially 3-4 direct functional reports and 10-12 persons in total. Expected to double headcount in next 12 months.
• Responsible for the day-to-day output of the production team, primarily comprising engineers, assembly technicians, and materials and logistics resources.
• Meeting output and customer satisfaction KPIs such as on-time delivery, quality, process throughput and resource utilization.
• Meet production schedule and quality targets.
• Manage planning and implementation of work orders and assignments for the factory and team.
• Implement systems and processes for workflow, design files, tech drawings, and documentation.
• Direct line management of quality, assembly, and manufacturing engineering (DFM) teams.
• Oversight in the recruitment, hiring, and training of technicians, manufacturing and engineering employees.
• Oversight of custom engineering activities and machine shop operations.
• Management of delivery, shipping, and receiving resources.

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Manage team to ensure on-time delivery, safety, quality, financial, and operational goals and standards are met.
• Oversee the assembly of LED lighting fixtures and other LED products.
• Implement LEAN and Agile manufacturing principles.
• Ensure assembly, engineering, and quality functions are working together.
• Implement and maintain efficient and accurate inventory management.
• Ensure a healthy and safe working environment, and compliance with federal and state regulations, through collaboration with environmental, health, and safety staff.
• Identify and implement training opportunities for staff to build and improve skills.
• Organize departmental management structure and teams for optimal, efficient operations.
• Deliver progress and production reports to executive team members as requested.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

• At least 5 years of relevant prior experience in a similar management position.
• Demonstrable knowledge of assembly of LED lighting, electro-mechanical assemblies, and/or PCB/PCBA processes.
• Experience of implementing LEAN and Agile manufacturing methodologies.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Excellent organizational and managerial skills.
• Thorough understanding of the policies and practices used in the manufacturing division.
• Ability to set long-term goals and communicate them to others.
• Ability to motivate and organize multiple efforts to accomplish goals.
• A bachelor's degree in a relevant field is required; a master's degree is preferred.
