Cardiac Monitor Tech Job Summary:

The Cardiac Monitor Tech recognizes normal cardiac rhythm patterns, monitors heart rhythm pattern of patients to detect abnormal pattern variances using telemetry equipment; reviews patient information to determine normal heart rhythm pattern, current pattern, and prior variances.

The Monitor Tech also observes screen of cardiac monitor and listens for alarm to identify abnormal variation in heart rhythm.

In addition, this position will also assist the unit with administrative duties.

Monitor Technician, Cardiac Monitor Tech, Telemetry Technician, Telemetry Tech, Tele TechQualificationsEducation:
High School Diploma or GED. Completion of an approved Monitor Technician Program. Formal ECG or dysrhythmia class with a minimum of 20 hours' practicum required.


Licenses/Certification:
BLS required


ACLS preferredExperience:
Recent monitor technician experience required and pass rhythm recognition exam with a minimum passing score of 80%. Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and prior secretarial experience required.
