Monmouth College, a residential liberal arts college in west central Illinois and founding member of the Associated Colleges of the Midwest (ACM), invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor position in 19th-century British literature with emphasis on the English Romantics, beginning August 2015.
Candidates should be prepared to teach introductory and advanced courses, including the later British literature survey (Romantics to the Modern period), within an annual 3-3 load; a secondary area of specialization from one of the following areas is strongly preferred: world literature in translation, global Anglophone literature, or U.S.
minority literatures.In addition to specialization in Romantic literature, candidates should demonstrate ability to teach our required first-year composition course as well as to contribute enthusiastically to our integrated general education program.
Evidence of good teaching and scholarly potential required.Ph.
D. is required for appointment as a tenure-track assistant professor. A commitment to the liberal arts and an appreciation for the small college learning environment is essential.
