- Knowledge of the actions to take in an emergency or other unforeseen situations.
- Knowledge of nursing home regulations.
- Follow authority's directions in emergencies.
- Respond quickly to residents' needs.
- Follow directions from the lead nurse.
- React calmly during stressful or unexpected situations.
- Recognize residents' moods and behaviors and respond appropriately.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Knowledge of dementia helpful, especially if working in Memory Support unit.
- Previous long term care experience is desirable.
