GENERAL SUMMARY & SCOPE

The Specialty Beauty Advisor – Clinique (SBA – Clinique) plays a crucial role in driving sales for the Clinique brand (including makeup, skincare, and fragrances) by interacting with customers to identify their specific requirements, guiding them in selecting and purchasing products, and upholding overall store standards, including cleanliness and product replenishment. They embody the image, offerings, and ethos of both Ulta Beauty and the Clinique brand to provide exceptional service to Ulta Beauty customers and support the Experience Manager (EM) by emphasizing performance (service/retail sales and in-store events), people (customer service and team dynamics), and processes (operational procedures and compliance benchmarks). This role demands a love for the beauty industry, outstanding customer service skills, and the ability to grasp and convey product knowledge.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES (*Essential Job Functions)

Performance

• Meet or surpass Clinique brand sales and customer goals and contribute to achieving or surpassing the store's targets related to retail and service sales, customer loyalty (including credit), omni-channel strategies, and retail loss prevention established by Ulta Beauty.
• Ensure each customer receives exceptional service by welcoming and engaging with every individual, personalizing service based on their needs, providing samples, and suggesting complementary products and services.
• Conduct makeup applications, skin analysis, and product demonstrations with customers.
• Schedule appointments for and facilitate services and in-store events that offer an unparalleled customer experience while achieving sales objectives for the Clinique brand and the store.
• Develop and nurture strong customer relationships and consistent communication with an expanding customer base for Clinique brand sales by engaging with existing customers, maintaining communication with a growing preferred customer list, and following up on customer inquiries.
• Inform all customers about ongoing promotions, events, and services within the store.
• Show initiative in staying updated on new and existing products and services during work hours and possess knowledge about the ingredients and advantages of these trends, products, and services to better assist customers.
• Maintain punctual, regular attendance.

People

• Foster an inclusive environment that supports team members, colleagues, and the internal and external customers served.
• Explain the benefits of the customer loyalty program, including credit options and the Ulta Beauty app, to customers on the sales floor.
• Nurture strong relationships with Clinique brand partners by participating in mandatory training sessions and executing in-store events and promotions.
• Collaborate with managers and team members across the store to contribute to business growth.
• Regularly engage in ongoing training, including education on brands and product categories, to facilitate continuous professional development and drive sales performance for the Clinique brand.

Process

• Understand and ensure compliance with Ulta Beauty's policies, procedures, and regulations.
• Adhere to the dress code of Ulta Beauty and the Clinique brand, including wearing branded items as instructed.
• Boost sales by maintaining the replenishment, signage, and presentation of the assigned work area, and guaranteeing the availability and upkeep of product testers in accordance with hygiene standards.
• Maintain exceptional operational standards in the store, including ensuring all products, testers, and demo stations meet company guidelines, and maintaining the cleanliness of the Clinique brand zone, and any other designated areas, such as the sales floor, restrooms, cash wrap, backroom, and break area.
• Participate in completing product resets, planograms, marketing displays, physical inventory procedures, and handling the shipment for the Clinique brand.
• Protect company assets by following best practices for loss prevention and delivering exceptional customer service.
• Carry out other operational duties as instructed.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Education

• Preferably a high school diploma
• Cosmetology license or demonstrator certification where mandated by state regulations

Experience

• Previous experience in cosmetics artistry is desirable

Skills

• Demonstrates considerable proficiency in sales, products, and service.
• Capable of building and maintaining robust customer relationships
• Able to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team
• Capable of effectively and proactively handling customer concerns and managing multiple tasks in a fast-paced setting
• Strong verbal communication and interpersonal skills

SPECIAL POSITION REQUIREMENTS

• Willingness to work a flexible schedule covering days, evenings, weekdays, and holidays
• Participate in brand-sponsored training sessions

WORKING CONDITIONS

• Frequent movement during shifts
• Regular standing, bending, pulling, pushing, reaching, and twisting during shifts
• Continuous lifting and/or moving of up to 10 lbs. during shifts
• Continuous coordination and handling of objects during shifts
