What is Stakeholder Influence Analysis at Gravity Research?
Stakeholder Influence Analysis is a specialized research department at National Journal that focuses on mapping stakeholders for corporate clients.
SIA identifies key people and organizations – including those in government, industry, think tanks, advocacy groups, and media – who hold significant influence over important policy matters, maps their connections within and across their networks, and creates personalized messaging and engagement strategies.
We are seeking curious and innovative researchers and consultants who are keen on understanding current public policy issues and the individuals and organizations driving policy decisions.
Position Overview:
Public Policy Research Analysts play a key role in various aspects of SIA client projects.
Analysts engage in qualitative research on energy/environment, food/nutrition, finance, and telecom topics, develop and present client deliverables, manage project timelines and communication, and contribute to product enhancement, all aimed at delivering value to clients.
Analysts collaborate directly with senior leaders at Gravity Research and offer insights to influential government affairs professionals in Washington.
The ideal candidate should possess the ability to conduct qualitative analysis of current public policy matters and meet tight deadlines to produce professional and intellectually solid deliverables for clients, both independently and in close teamwork.
Core Responsibilities:
- Managing research for multiple client accounts and ensuring timely project delivery
- Collaborating with team members to devise research methodologies and approaches for addressing client queries
- Conducting qualitative research, deriving analytical insights, and consolidating findings into strategic recommendations for clients
- Crafting deliverables such as PowerPoint presentations, memos, and other formats to convey findings and recommendations to clients
- Presenting findings and engaging with clients to better comprehend their requirements
- Staying updated on industry and policy-related news to integrate current trends into research and analysis
Qualifications of the Ideal Candidate:
A highly analytical problem solver
The ability to extract key insights from complex data sets, summarize large amounts of information, and articulate these insights clearly to potential clients
A proficient project manager capable of handling multiple priorities independently and meeting deadlines
A strong writer skilled at framing issues for diverse audiences; familiarity with PowerPoint or other visual presentation formats is advantageous
An individual with 1-3 years of experience in areas such as strategy consulting, government affairs consulting, policy analysis, data science, political science research, or legislative/executive agency policymaking
An interest in intellectually demanding work centered around the business of government affairs in Washington
A strong work ethic and a culture of generosity
An active contributor to an inclusive workplace
Must hold a Bachelor's degree
