    THE OPPORTUNITY.

    Michelin has an immediate opportunity at our American Synthetic Rubber Company (ASRC) chemical plant in Louisville, KY for a Chemical Process Design Engineer to support investment projects (CapEx and OpEx) and the integration of new process developments and technologies in plant systems and infrastructure by applying key engineering competencies including process engineering and sizing, specification of technologies and equipment, process controls, heat and mass balances, material compatibility, pump design, safety system design (i.e, PSV sizing), and general piping design.

    WHAT WILL YOU DO

    • Process design and definition: Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs) , Heat and Mass Balances, process descriptions, definitions of key technologies, sized equipment lists, design reviews with all relevant fields. (The process design, sizing, and engineering is to be developed using international standards for the mtier: API, TEMA, ISA, IEC, ISO. Respect appropriate safety and environmental related standards including OSHA, PSM, and site safety policies).
    • Process engineering and sizing: Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), equipment and instrument specifications, process control narrative functional descriptions, integration of required safeguards into the process design including findings from PHAs, HazOps, and SIL establishment reviews.
    • Procurement: Validation of Request for Proposal (RFP) documents, technical alignment of bidder offers, and validations of vendor datasheets for equipment and instruments.
    • Detail studies: Validation of "for construction" process data (e.g., hydraulics calculations, heat exchanges, P&IDs including operational and commissioning inputs) and detailed process control functional analysis.
    • Commissioning: Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs) / Site Acceptance Tests (SATs) and establishment of the process validation tests for process equipment and process controls, validation of mechanical completion for process and equipment installations, and validations of Ready For Start-Up for process and equipment.
    WHAT WILL YOU BRING
    • B.S. Degree in Chemical Engineering (minimum)
    • 7 to 10 years' experience as a Chemical Engineer in an industrial process setting in a similar function.
    • Experience in project management is desired.
    • Experience in a PSM regulated manufacturing environment is a definite plus.
