    HOURS/PAY:
    This is a full-time salaried exempt position. days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. This position regularly requires long hours and may include evening and weekend obligations.


    DESCRIPTION

    The Chief Financial Officer is responsible for Agency accounting and financial processing, procedures, internal controls and reporting deadlines; directs and manages MIS, Accounting and Finance functions for Catholic Charities of Southeast Michigan.

    As a key member of the Executive Leadership team, the Chief Financial Officer will report to the CEO.

    The CFO will have primary day-to-day responsibility for planning, implementing, managing and controlling all financial-related activities of the company, managed entities and clients.

    This will include direct responsibility for accounting, finance, insurance, investor relationships and partnership compliance and private and institutional financing.

    It also includes shared responsibility as part of the Leadership Team for strategic planning, forecasting, new business plan development, and analysis and negotiations.

    QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

    Comprehensive knowledge of accounting and fiscal management, especially with regards to not-for-profit institutions

    Master's Degree in business, accounting or finance

    CPA certification preferred; 5+ years of professional experience in leadership positions in accounting or finance required; investment management experience a plus

    Strategic vision, excellent supervisory and leadership skills

    Proficiency with information technology; excellent written and verbal communication skills

    Excellent strategic planning and organizational skills

    Successful completion of initial and on-going employment screens, including, but not limited to criminal background, sex offender, drug screen, OIG, valid Michigan driver's license, abuse and neglect and vehicle record check as required


    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
    Leadership

    Actively participate in the strategic planning process and on-going discussions as a member of the CCSEM leadership team

    Provide guidance and advice to Chief Executive Officer on the financial stability of the Agency.

    Provide guidance and training in all areas of finance and accounting practices to staff.


    Communicate financial matters internally through management reporting; collaborate to produce regular forecasting; and, provide analysis necessary for strategic business decisions.

    Maintain professional relationships with banking partners, investment management firms, audit firms, property management firm and funders.

    Ensure that accounting staff strictly follows Catholic teachings in all aspects of their positions.


    As a member of the Leadership team, role model professional behavior and guide staff's professional development; demonstrate servant leader principles.

    Adhere to the Mission, Values and Vision of CCSEM and the values and teachings of the Catholic Church


    Operations:


    In coordination with the Chief Operating Officer develop and maintain relationships with agency vendor(s) to maintain agency policies as required, such as general & professional liability, workman's compensation, unemployment, director's and officer's liability, etc., as required.

    Provide financial direction to Agency programs including grant and program financials.


    In coordination with the Chief Operating Officer, provide operational support, including items as contract negotiations, vendor interfaces, facilities management, etc.

    In coordination with the Chief Operating Officer, coordinate routine, seasonal and major building and maintenance activities in coordination with representatives at each agency location


    Services :
    Direct overall management of Accounting, IT and payroll processing

    Oversee grant/contract financials; review and approve grant/contract budgets & proposals

    Provide direction and monitoring of financial reporting, cash receipts and cash disbursement cycles

    Monitor grants and contracts to include: federal, state, counties, private foundations

    Ensure Agency accounting practices are ethical and compliant with all legal requirements

    Manage accounting processes for effectiveness and efficiency; produce timely and accurate monthly financials

    Develop, maintain and monitor CCSEM Financials to include cash flow forecasting and safety reserve.

    Monitor and review monthly financial reconciliations; Review and analyze monthly financial reports.

    Provide CEO and Finance Committee financial information with appropriate analysis upon request.

    Prepare and monitor the annual budget.

    Oversee all Agency annual audits (agency, pension, etc.)

    Oversee Agency 403(b)

    Serve as a resource for proper grant accounting procedures.

    Effectively coordinate with the Development Department proper accounting procedures for all gifts, grants and funding.

    Ensure that investments, employee benefits, grants and expenditures conform to the teachings of the Catholic Church.
