- Understanding of chemical dependency treatment, therapeutic interventions, ASAM Criteria, pharmacology, withdrawal syndromes, co-occurring mental disorders, and family dynamics.

- Knowledge of principles of human behavior and social, economic conditions, federal, and state legislation related to social welfare.
- Must hold an active Montana state license as a Licensed Addiction Counselor (LAC), Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC), Professional Counselor Licensed Candidate (PCLC), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), or Social Worker Licensed Candidate (SWLC) upon hire.
- Eligibility for full licensure within one year of hire.
- Preferably dual licensure as a Montana Licensed Addiction Counselor.
- Preferred one year of job-related experience in direct clinical services.
- Master's degree in clinical, guidance, counseling, psychology, social work, or related behavioral science fields, with coursework enabling licensure in the State of Montana.
- Must possess or be willing to obtain a valid CPR/AED/FIRST AID certification card before the hire date.

MCDC is the sole in-patient chemical dependency treatment center operated by the State of Montana, specializing in providing medically monitored detoxification and treatment services to individuals aged 18 and above who have been diagnosed with substance use disorders. The center is licensed for 48 beds.
The behavioral health program at MCDC prioritizes educational, interactive, and skill-based co-occurring treatment. The Mental Health Therapist administers evidence-based services in both individual and group settings to address emotional disturbances and chemical dependency addictions, aligning with ASAM criteria for 3.7 and 3.5 levels of inpatient care.
