Position Summary:
The Terminal Manager reports directly to the General Manager. The incumbent is responsible for the profitable and efficient operations of Vitus' Dillingham facility.
The Terminal Manager position requires a combination of skills and licensing, including, but not limited to; State of AK Class A Commercial Driver License with an X endorsement, customer relations skills to serve and expand the business and experience with terminal business activities.
The incumbent will supervise, guide, assist, or step-in for facility staff, including convenience store as well as perform fuel deliveries as required.
Thus, managing all terminal activities to ensure customer satisfaction and operational excellence.
The ideal candidate lives in Dillingham, has a mechanical aptitude and the ability to perform routine equipment maintenance, the ability to successfully lead and direct staff, as well as proficiency with Microsoft Office; Outlook, Excel and Word.
Essential Job Functions:
Observes and complies with all company safety policies and procedures
Performs the job duties in a safe and sensible manner in accordance with all company policies and procedures and state and federal regulations
Manages assets across all business units
Ensures cash is properly reconciled on daily basis, communicates with Corporate accounting as necessary
Recruits and facilitates hiring personnel as required to accomplish company goals
Collects staff timecards, reviews and approves/denies, submits to Anchorage for processing
Supervise drivers and other terminal personnel to maximize operational efficiency and safely deliver quality goods and services, in accordance with all company policies and procedures and state and federal regulations that duties are performed as defined
Performs or assigns driver's daily vehicle inspection report and record on proper company form
Performs or assigns daily (365 days/yr) gas station inspections and maintains current and accurate inspection file
Manages and maintains, all Vitus Terminal operations as directed by the Anchorage office, including cash reconciliation, gas station sales, customer delivery activity and inventory on a daily basis
Communicates with Anchorage accounting as necessary to maintain reconciliations and accountability
Communicates with Vitus Marine personnel on scheduling, shipping/receiving of goods into and out of facility area
Provides information and reports as needed by the Anchorage office in both Terminal and Marine operations
Performs local sales functions as appropriate and represents the company to local entities
Facilitates local administrative requirements including turning in fuel and packaged goods inventories, packaged goods ordering, scheduling of terminal employees, and other related duties
Acts as local representative for all Vitus entities, including vessel activity during the shipping season
Provides support for marine operations and management team as needed
Periodically monitors Vitus vessels wintered in Dillingham as required or requested by Anchorage staff
Performs or manages general maintenance needs and provide parts and supplies expediting
Maintains or oversees maintenance shop in Dillingham
Manages the opening and closing the facility at respective company established times
Ensures facility is appropriately maintained ensuring cleanliness of facility and equipment
Ensures merchandising systems are maintained
Facilitates and/or performs routine maintenance on company equipment per company policy and all applicable federal, state, and local regulations
Works with Inventory Manager to ensure adequate inventory levels to accommodate customer demand
Maintains adequate fuel levels in gas station tanks and facility heating oil tanks to prevent run outs
Performs gas station inspections and maintains current and accurate inspection log
Processes orders received via telephone, in person and website
Schedules and manages customer fuel orders to ensure safe and timely deliveries
Serves as primary contact for all local customer and facilitates customer inquiries
Provides local customer support and assists in customer relation problem resolution
Manages staffing requirements to ensure proper business practices and customer service expectations are met
Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma, or equivalent
Five (5) years of related experience and/or training
State of AK Class A CDL with X endorsement
Fuel Terminal Management experience, preferred
