    Description

    Position: Career Counselor

    Reports To: Career Services Manager

    Department: Career Services

    FLSA STATUS: Exempt - Full Time

    Primary Position Objectives: Responsible for providing counseling services to residential and non-residential students focusing on personal and social development, career employment, and behavior. Offers individual and group counseling as well as crisis intervention.

    Brief Description of Duties:

    • Administers leaves and passes in CIS following DOL policies.
    • Conducts individual counseling sessions monthly using RAP format for documentation.
    • Conducts assigned group sessions.
    • Enters monthly case-notes in CIS using RAP format.
    • Assists students in pursuing advanced training opportunities such as technical training or college admissions.
    • Maintains communication with parents, guardians, and Admissions Counselors regarding student issues resolution.
    • Establishes meaningful relationships with staff and acts as a resource to address student behavior positively.
    • Visits classrooms and dormitories to connect with instructors and residential advisors.
    • Provides information to the Student Personnel Officer and represents students at review panels upon request.
    • Meets with Student Personnel Officer for consultation on individual and group issues.
    • Develops referrals and follows up on individual progress reports and disciplinary actions.
    • Serves on committees to review counseling program policies and procedures.
    • Facilitates, monitors, and conducts Evaluations of Student Progress.
    • Transports students to appointments when needed.
    • Works towards meeting performance management goals such as completers percentage and CTT credentials.
    • Follows AWOL follow-up and CDSS plan daily.
    • Assists with graduation exercises and adheres to property control policies.
    • Maintains areas clean, follows safety practices, and complies with regulations.
    • Demonstrates and upholds company's core values.
    • Models appropriate Career Success Standards and participates in staff training.
    • Performs other assigned duties.

    Qualifications:

    • To succeed in this role, an individual must perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and basic computer literacy.
    • High level of communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.

    Experience: Minimum of one to two years related experience in education.

    Education: Bachelor's degree in counseling, psychology, or social work required. Master's degree preferred.

    Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Valid State Driver's License.

    Physical Demands: Requires sitting, handling objects, reaching, talking, and occasional lifting up to 25 pounds.

    Work Environment: May be exposed to outdoor weather conditions and varying noise levels.
