    YOUTH OPPORTUNITIES DIVISION
    CITY OF WORCESTER

    PENDING FUNDING APPROVAL

    The City of Worcester seeks qualified applicants for an Administrative Assistant (Programming Lead, RW) for the Youth Opportunities Division within the Department of Health and Human Services. Under the direction of the Program Coordinator, the position will provide administrative support for the hiring efforts for the Recreation Worcester seasonal staff and program participants. The position will assist with the recruitment, hiring, and onboarding process of seasonal staff, and will work with the Program Coordinator and the Special Projects Manager to complete payroll for seasonal staff and assist in procurement of supplies and equipment.

    ESSENTIAL ELEMENTS:

    • Collaborate with Recreation Worcester & Youth Opportunities Division staff to handle day-to-day requests
    • Assist in the preparation of data, supplies, and equipment vital to the daily operation of Recreation Worcester program sites
    • Assist with the coordination of the hiring process by maintaining candidate databases, screen resumes, schedule interviews, and assist with the onboarding process
    • Maintain and organize registration and contact information of program participant and staff
    • Assist in the preparation of regularly scheduled reports and payroll

    REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

    • Excellent analytical and communication skills
    • Proficiency with computers and experience working with Microsoft Office Suite
    • Ability to communicate and work effectively with diverse populations
    • Ability to build relationships and networking skills with students, colleagues, and community members
    • Ability to work with youth of diverse backgrounds aged 16-24
    • Ability to provide and receive constructive feedback
    • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and multitask

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

    • High School Diploma or equivalent
    • Previous administrative experience in an office setting
    • Must pass a criminal background check (CORI & SORI)
    • Excellent communication skills
    • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    • One (1) year of administrative experience in an office setting
    • One (1) year of experience working with children and families from diverse cultural, socioeconomic backgrounds and abilities
    • One (1) year of experience facilitating activities and programming

    SALARY: $17.50 hourly part-time, non-benefitted. Candidates to be selected upon funding determination.
