Job summary
Evaluate learning needs of staff and provide education within assigned unit scope of practice using evidence-based research hospital policy procedures nursing process guidelines standards care accrediting body standards Develop orientation competency curriculums Incorporate educator facilitator change agent leader consultant or researcher in learning activities that support nurse developing maintaining continuing professional nursing competence Provide role orientation development engages learner critical thinking problem solving Develop annual educational plan based assessment each nursing unit group defines core ongoing competency validation consistent current practice assures consistent standards practice continuum meets legal program accreditation requirements Ensure documentation employee orientation competency validation continuing education activities assigned areas Supports assists staff developing preceptor teaching skills Identifies creative competency verification continuing education methods cost effective utilizing risk benefit analysis skills stimulate ongoing learning environment culture Differentiates educational issues system compliance issues Studies evaluates matters relating to continuing education recommend appropriate action Participates quality improvement initiatives specialty areas Orientation new department members clinical orientation Ensures educational activities congruent organizations mission vision goals Acts formal informal consultant clinical administrative staff Participates development facilitation evaluation unit departmental service line corporate goals objectives especially related clinical practice patient outcomes defining systems models care delivery Promotes professional cohesiveness among clinical staff positive working relationships other departments interdisciplinary team building health care delivery Represents clinical specialty networking hospital system-wide committees professional associations external agencies related programs Provides feedback learners leadership organization effectiveness learning activity Identifies need state legislation field continuing education recommend appropriate action Reviews initiates duties related continuing education Reviews matters relating to continuing education recommends appropriate action
