    Environmental Health and Safety professional responsible for technical, functional and program management for Suffield, CT Ice Cream Plant. Plan, direct and provide advanced technical and professional environmental & safety support services to operations.


    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:


    Partnering with the operations team, responsible for managing EHS practices; administer/implement EHS programs and policies outlined by OSHA, EPA and DOT as appropriate and maintain all pertinent records.

    Implements written EHS programs and company safety policies aligned with Federal & State requirements (i.e., OSHA, EPA, or the respective State agencies).

    Manage Workers' Compensation claims and track injury and illness statistics to help identify safety concerns by trend analysis and provide recommendations to minimize these concerns.

    Interact with third party administrator and local case nurses to receive/provide updates on WC claims.

    Act as company liaison with regards to all regulatory inspections; have all EHS records and files current and inspection ready.

    Review and maintain all company personal injury records. Develop strategies that will successfully bring injured employees back to work in a timely fashion. Provide guidance to facility managers and supervisors regarding incident reporting/investigation programs.

    Participate in investigation process and utilize known root cause analysis techniques; provide assistance and technical guidance to local line leaders to implement processes to prevent injury reoccurrence.

    Develop and maintain Safety and Health training programs that ensure OSHA compliance as well as increase safety awareness and responsibility.

    Designated as company liaison with all insurance representatives; be present during all inspections involving outside parties; give recommended strategies for improving safety performance; manages all statistics to prioritize areas of immediate concern; and customize training efforts tailored to those areas.

    Serve as the coordinator for the facility Risk Management Program (RMP) and Process Safety Management (PSM) program for anhydrous ammonia.

    Oversee and maintain all environmental regulatory permits and programs including permitting, inspections and submittals for Air, Stormwater, Wastewater, Water Usage, Energy Usage, Waste Hauler, Hazardous Waste Disposal & Tracking, Universal Waste Disposal & Tracking, SPCC (oil), Recycling, Sustainability Initiatives and Reporting, and Tier II/Form R reporting.

    Partner with Human Resources to oversee and maintain Ethical Sourcing guidelines.

    Education and Experience:


    Requires a minimum of a BA/BS degree in safety, science, engineering or related discipline and 5-10 or more years of related experience.

    Credentials as an OHST or CSP or other recognized certifications are a plus. Experience in a manufacturing setting preferred, food & beverage is a plus.
