    What You Will Do:
    We are currently searching for a Computer and Electronics Engineer to independently provide support services to satisfy the overall operational objectives of the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH). The primary objective is to provide services and deliverables through the performance of Clinical services. This is a full-time, on-site opportunity in Bethesda, MD.

    Apply a variety of statistical and computational techniques to solve complex analytic problems. For example, assist researchers with biostatistics and statistical modeling across a range of applications.

    • Apply knowledge of relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL) to optimize extraction and analysis of multivariate data Use advanced knowledge and proficiency with a variety of statistical and computational techniques.
    • Develop scientific applications using R, Shiny and/or Python. For example, implement these applications for analysis of a broad range of data sets, including time series, transcriptomics, and behavioral data.
    • Develop or utilize new or existing technology to develop dynamic web applications or software tools for bioinformatics application.
    • Provide technical experience reviewing, analyzing, and modifying existing programming systems.
    • Provide technical experience needed to assist in reviewing, updating, analyzing, and modifying existing programming systems; evaluate impact of programming modifications; refine data and formats final product.
    • Maintain the lab's software projects, including associated websites, documentation, code repositories, releases, and improvements. Knowledge of Linux (especially Debian) to establish compliant repositories of data and laboratory information such as laboratory protocols.
    • Document all assignments and create various reports as needed; write and maintain program documentation; document programming problems and resolutions for future reference.
    • Assist with the planning, building, and maintaining applications to meet an end user's needs; troubleshoots any issues or problems and implements appropriate corrective actions; provide guidance and problem resolution for users.


    What You Will Need:

    • Bachelor's Degree
    • At least 3 years of technical experience, one of which needs to be in statistical modeling.
    • Knowledge of statistical modeling, database management, data visualization, server hardware/software management, web development skills, or algorithm development.
    • Knowledge of technology tools and platforms such as MATLAB, R languages, PostgreSQL, GitHub, Linux, Python or Shiny


    What Would Be Nice To Have:

    • Preferred areas of study are Computer Programming and Data Processing, Computer Science, Information Sciences, Statistics and Decision Science, or Computer and Information Systems.
    • Prefer master's degree with at least 3 years of experience.
    • Knowledge of Debian is strongly desired
