- Develop and deliver comprehensive ASL curriculum for students at various proficiency levels.
- Create a supportive and inclusive learning environment that encourages active participation and engagement.
- Incorporate a variety of instructional techniques, such as visual aids, group activities, and technology, to enhance learning outcomes.
- Assess student progress regularly and provide constructive feedback to support growth and development.
- Collaborate with colleagues and participate in professional development opportunities to continuously improve teaching practices.
- Foster a positive and respectful classroom culture that celebrates diversity and promotes empathy and understanding.
- Valid Teaching Certificate
- Bachelors degree in Deaf Studies, Education, Linguistics, or a related field (Masters degree preferred).
- Fluent in American Sign Language (ASL) with native or near-native proficiency.
- Minimum of two years of experience teaching ASL to diverse student populations.
- Strong understanding of Deaf culture, history, and community dynamics.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to establish rapport with students and colleagues.
- Demonstrated ability to differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners.
- Certification in ASL teaching (e.g., ASLTA certification) is a plus.
