    Naval Shipboard Audio/Visual Technician II

    Summary

    ManTech is seeking a dynamic individual to troubleshoot, maintain and upgrade RF and IP-based video distribution systems in Navy ships. We have an opening in Norfolk, VA, for a Technician to assist in the building, configuration, and life cycle support of Broadcast, Cable TV and Surveillance Camera Systems for US Navy ships.

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Integrate, install, upgrade and maintain broadcast and production closed circuit television systems, surveillance camera systems and fiber optic and RF cable distribution systems used for entertainment, training, and security aboard United States Navy, Coast Guard, and Military Sealift Command ships;
    • Interpret and understand system and equipment drawings and cable run sheets;
    • Integrate equipment in racks, fabricate and run cables, and conduct test & troubleshooting, in both lab and shipboard environments;
    • Work within established supply process, including coordination with ship's forces for maintenance and repair;
    • Train personnel on use and maintenance of systems.
    • Regular CONUS & infrequent OCONUS travel.

    Minimum Required Skills

    • High School Diploma, or GED with 1+ years' experience with integration and/or maintenance of broadcast television systems;
    • Ability to fabricate RG6, RG11, RG59, Mini RG59, and Ethernet cable connections for system installations and repairs;
    • Ability to troubleshoot and repair television and related cable distribution systems;
    • Ability to use desktop and laptop computers for maintenance tracking;
    • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and to access tight shipboard spaces;
    • Ability to climb ladders, walk long distances, carry tools and test equipment on/off ships.

    Preferred Requirements

    • Knowledge of the procedures and regulations regarding installations of systems in US Navy ships;
    • Knowledge of RF television distribution systems using coaxial and fiber optic cabling;
    • Knowledge of video surveillance systems;
    • Familiarity with satellite receiving systems;
    • Familiarity with IP-based television and/or camera systems;
    • One must have good written communication, interpersonal, problem-solving, analytical, mathematical, and organizational skills, and be able to work well alone and as part of a team.

    Security Requirements:

    • US citizenship and Interim Secret clearance, or ability to obtain one, is required as this position supports a DOD client.

    Physical Requirements:

    • Sedentary Work, lift and carry 50 lbs.
    • Extensive time in stationary position.
    • Be able to move around the office.
    • Operate office equipment.
    • Be able to communicate professionally with ManTech employees and ManTech clients.
    • Must be able to observe and report.
    • The person in this position frequently communicates with co-workers, management, and customers, which may involve delivering presentations. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
