    Description

    Performs specialized work in planning, supervising, and implementing all facets involving the Frederick County Parks and Recreation aquatics operations. Duties will include; knowledge and basic maintenance of pump room, supervision of Aquatic Staff, and other related duties as assigned.

    Work is performed under the direct supervision of the Pool Manager.

    • May oversee daily pool operations and assume Pool Manager duties in the absence of the Pool Manager.
    • Responsible for supervising all Aquatic Staff, includes assigning tasks to subordinate staff, assisting with in house training, and other tasks as assigned.
    • Responsible for reconciling daily receipts from the pool admissions and concession sales.
    • Enforce pool and park rules and consistently implement and practice safety measures.
    • Monitor and maintain the cleanliness standards of the facility.
    • Maintain constant verbal and written communication with the team leads.
    • Monitor water chemistry safely and efficiently.
    • Rescue swimmers in distress; apply first aid and resuscitation as needed.
    • Carry out pool opening and closing on a rotating basis.
    • Assist with daily pool admissions, swim lessons, swim team/meets, and paddleboat operation.
    • Understand and implement emergency plan.
    Typical Qualifications

    Education and Experience:
    • Any combination of education and experience equivalent to a high school diploma or General Education Degree (GED) is required;
    • Age 18 at the time of application;
    • Minimum one (1) year experience on Aquatic Staff team; and
    • Experience in pool systems operations.
    Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Certifications:
    • Knowledge of aquatic facility operations including pool system, aquatic safety principles, and the use of safety/rescue equipment;
    • Knowledge of Frederick County Parks and Recreation aquatic rules and regulations;
    • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal;
    • Ability to act independently and make decisions that represent the County and it's citizens;
    • Must possess current certifications in Lifeguarding, CPR for the Professional Rescuer and Standard First Aid; and,
    • WSI preferred.
    Supplemental Information

    Requires good physical conditionregular physical effort including but not limited to walking talking, stooping, kneeling, bending, reaching, swimming, sitting, floating, treading, standing, and gripping. Working and lifting of equipment and materials over 25 lbs. is common. Ability to work outdoors, nights, weekends, and holidays.
