Role

As a Software Engineer I, you'll join our Data & Digital team helping us lead, design and build our digital transformation and define what's next for our business—all while growing your career.

The Data and Digital team provides innovative microservice and event based solutions, utilizing open source technologies in the cloud, to deliver critical data, geo-spatial, and logistic capabilities to our customers.

As a Software Engineer I, you will work on an Agile Scrum team and grow your skills in an environment that emphasizes creativity, collaboration, and empowerment.

You will deliver code based on software engineering best practices for design, release, test, and debugging. Your work will enable business capabilities.

Responsibilities

Focus on growing as a software engineer – learn the engineering rigor necessary to support application reliability, scalability, maintainability, extensibility, portability, and security.

Develop your productivity skills by learning source control, editors, the build pipeline, and other tools, as well as testing best practices
Tackle well-defined tasks, commit, and deliver with the guidance of Senior developers as a part of a Scrum team during each sprint
Develop your knowledge of a single component of our software architecture and branch out into other areas as your grow as a software engineer
Work hard / Play hard; You take your commitments seriously and deliver as a member of a collaborative team
Embrace Change and adapt to new technologies
Graciously accept feedback and learn from everything you do

Education/Certifications

Bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related technical field from a four-year college or university, or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

May have up to 2 years relevant experience in software development, information systems, or equivalent technical environment, including previous experience in the development of highly transactional, mission critical applications in heterogeneous environments/architectures for multi-user systems.

Experience/Minimum Requirements

1+ years' experience with Java or a similar programming language

Understands software development lifecycle:
design, functional and technical requirements, coding, debugging, testing, release, and operational support.
Understands software development best practices, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations
Familiarity with agile software development methodologies
Self-motivated with a passion for learning, adapting quickly, and communicating across diverse teams
Exposure to or working knowledge of some of the following:
SQL and/or NoSQL technologies (such as SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL, Redshift, Elasticache) and distributed caching (such as Redis)
Microservices, Event driven architecture and object-oriented programming methodologies
Spring or similar framework
Unix/Linux
Web service protocols, such as SOAP or REST

Working Conditions:

This is a remote role with the expectation of occasional on-site/in-person collaboration with teammates and stakeholders that may require up to15% travel.

For New York, Colorado, California, and Washington residents - The hiring range offered for this position is the equivalent of $70,000 – $85,000 annually.

In addition to salary, employees are eligible for an annual bonus of up to 10% of annual salary. Employees (and their families) are eligible for medical, dental, vision, and basic life insurance. Employees are able to enroll in our company's 401k plan.

Employees will also receive 18 days of paid time off each year and 12 paid holidays throughout the calendar year.
