Job summary
Serves as unit receptionist directs patients visitors and others answers telephone and intercom takes and relays messages refers unusual or questionable situations to supervisor or others uses pneumatic tube system dumb waiter receives transmits messages arranges for specimen transport transcribes physician orders enters orders into entry system according to standard procedure utilizes down time procedures when indicated duplicates reports mails distributes same prepares maintains patient charts kardexes assembles medical records files reports documents such as laboratory radiology reports other information in appropriate part of medical records charts temperatures pulses blood pressures weights respiration prepares diet sheets ensures completeness of charts chart documents collates medical records according to standard procedure assists physician others in procuring medical records schedules patients consults diagnostic therapeutic services ensure appropriate transportation utilizing ancillary departments ensures preparation charts rooms ambulances other services required directed obtains past medical records prepares transfer discharge charts prepares documents accompany departing patients arranges patient transportation maintains censuses admissions transfers discharges arranges admission transfer discharge for patients enters maintains retrieves computer information orders maintains equipment supplies maintains work area neat orderly fashion maintains unit log necessary may require supply dispatch services complies established departmental policies procedures objectives attends variety meetings conferences seminars required directed demonstrates use Quality Improvement daily operations respects diverse views approaches demonstrates Standards Respect contributes creating maintaining environment professionalism tolerance civility acceptance toward employees patients visitors performs related duties required directed
