    Description


    The In Vivo Project Manager will have a solid background of theoretical and practical knowledge in the biological sciences to understand the products and services of the In Vivo Bar Harbor team.

    The Project Manager is responsible for working with the study director and customer to define project scope, goals and deliverables and for overall project coordination, execution and completion.

    This position requires an in-depth understanding of operations and service deliverables, available products and services, a customer centric focus, excellent communication skills, and proficiency with available project tracking and communication tools to enable the Project Manager to ensure a positive customer experience.

    This position is the key responsible party to ensure that the customer's project is on track and that internal resources are used responsibly.

    It works with the operation on a daily basis.

    Entry level/ All Project Manager Levels


    • IACUC Protocol
    • Creating accurate timelines for study directors
    • Securing animals for studies
    • Securing reagents-ordering, and cataloging
    • Responsible for the creation of templates for data collection
    • Providing timely data updates to the study directors
    • Responsible for handling sample shipments
    • Responsible for hands on experimental work within the lab
    Key Responsibilities & Essential Functions

    Customer Experience Management:
    The Project Manager serves as the primary back up to the Study Director for all client interactions. The Project Manager will participate in all client interactions.

    Working directly with the Study Director, the In Vivo Project Manager holds primary responsibility for ensuring a superior customer experience.

    Serves as the liaison between the Study Director and the laboratory and animal room technicians. Distributes accurate and tailored project summaries, according to customer-specific time tables back to the Study Director.

    Anticipates possible problems or inconsistencies and drives mid-course changes and corrections in order to avoid customer dissatisfaction or cost overruns.

    Negotiates win-win solutions to problems.

    Project Development and Tracking:
    PM and


    SPM:
    Develops and secures IACUC approval for studies.

    Working with the Study Director, develops SOPs for new techniques being developed and mentors research and animal room staff on new techniques.


    All Levels:
    Coordinates and carries out any pilot studies that need to be performed as part of an accepted study.

    Coordinates Study Directives and tracks progress on projects, updating all required databases as needed and anticipates possible problems or inconsistencies and drives mid-course changes and corrections in order to avoid customer dissatisfaction or cost overruns.

    Establishes and maintains an accurate, complete and understandable summary of each project. Drives progress of each department/area involved in project to ensure that all project goals are met. Assists Study Director in monthly billing of projects.


    • Project Management, Order Entry and Record-Keeping: Coordinates and tracks progress on projects, updating all required databases as needed and anticipates possible problems or inconsistencies and drives mid-course changes and corrections in order to avoid customer dissatisfaction or cost overruns. Negotiates win-win solutions to problems. Establishes and maintains an accurate, complete and understandable summary of each project. Drives progress of each department/area involved in project to ensure that all project goals are met. Works with operations to ensure that projects are on track for deliverable and takes responsibility and ownership for managing project overall success.

    Fiscal Responsibility:

    Responsibility to enable meeting departmental and JAX Services financial goals by ensuring that projects are run both timely and accurately, by monitoring projects to minimize cost overruns, by increasing repeat business, by working with In Vivo technicians and Research Assistants to manage their time and proficiency.

    The salary range is $68,344 - $99,099. Salary will be determined based on qualifications and experience.

    Qualifications:


    • Bachelor's degree in Biology or another Life Science and 2 years of experience. Previous laboratory experience and proven proficiency in molecular biology protocols is desired. Knowledge of computer software applications encountered in a normal laboratory setting. Proven proficiency with a variety of tasks performed very frequently in the study team (incl. formulation, dosing, phenotyping, biospecimens collection and analyses, data collection and analyses) to a level which allows assisting team members, troubleshooting of issues as they arise, and insuring delivery of excellent quality services.
    • Proficiency with a variety of software tools including MS Office software, Goldmine, laboratory information management databases, Collaboration software such as Central Desktop or Sharepoint; and ERP (Axapta) and CRM solutions.
    • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills are required: Successful incumbents establish consistent effective two-way communication with department managers and supervisors regarding project needs & deadlines and follow up with these people in a timely manner as required to ensure project success; able to effectively communicate and negotiate with internal and external customers and colleagues to meet project goals and ensure customer satisfaction.
    • Knowledge of college level Mendelian genetics that can be obtained through a genetics course at an accredited college or university or through successful completion of the Jackson Laboratory genetics course, "Beyond Basic Genetics".
    • Proven ability to work collaboratively with others to achieve desired business results
    • Positive attitude and professional manner in all interactions; demonstrated commitment to continuous learning and professional development
    • Demonstrated ability to support staff to thrive on change and keep pace with a fast paced, dynamic work environment which is externally focused
    • Highly proficient in Excel, AXAPTA and LIMs systems.
