    Overall Responsibility:

    Young America Realty is a growth-focused third-party property management firm in our 50th year of operation. Located in Bloomington/Normal, IL, we are focused on stewarding the assets of our property owner clients. We are excited to add to our team a high performing accounting professional looking to grow in their professional development. This position will be responsible for all facets of the accounting operations of the company. The individual taking this position should be open to additional growth in their career with us.

    Key Tasks and Responsibilities:

    • Produce complete and accurate monthly financial statements and related financial reporting for Young America Realty.
    • Responsible for managing the Accounting and Collections Teams.
    • Build out a month-end checklist and fully own the month-end close process, including the preparation of the month-end closing entries.
    • Complete monthly account reconciliations.
    • Assist with project planning on major CAPEX and development projects.
    • Lead the organization in its transition to full accrual (GAAP) accounting from cash basis.
    • Prepare all applicable accounting estimates and monthly accruals.
    • Prepare cost analysis (ROI, break-even, etc.) on projects to help management and key decision makers evaluation options.
    • Prepare weekly cash/liquidity reporting, cash management and cash flow forecasting.
    • Prepare monthly Property Owner financial statements and analysis.
    • Responsible for managing commercial rent leases and implementing actionable provisions with lease agreements.
    • Responsible for managing the multifaceted insurance program for the property management company, owner P&C program and the renters policy program provided to tenants.
    • Maintain, update, and prepare applicable policies and procedures and documents within Company documentation tools.
    • Assist in the preparation of the annual budget process (company and applicable departments along with specific properties) and monthly updates during the fiscal year, including regular updates to the budget to actual reporting for management review.
    • Coordinate as necessary with both the Company and our clients external CPA firms.
    • Have oversight of the Companys collections efforts, including the managing of delinquency tracking & performance.
    • Implement and document internal controls and best practices as needed, including clear safeguards related to separation of duties.

    Note: These are minimum requirements for this position and are to be used as a guide for appropriate performance. Additional duties will likely be assigned.

    Job Requirements:

    • Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or related degree with 5+ years of professional experience in accounting field (public accounting experience preferred).
    • Excellent knowledge of accounting regulations and procedures, including the Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
    • Additional certification (CPA and/or CMA) preferred, but not required.
    • Strong mathematical, analytical, problem-solving and organization skills.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in the English language.
    • Ability to build a strong rapport and level of trust with teammates.
    • Deadline and detail oriented with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
    • Must be able to withstand prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
    • Excellent knowledge of word processing tools and spreadsheets (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite, Google Docs, etc.). Advanced spreadsheet users are highly preferred.
    • Experience in ERPs is highly preferred.
    • Organization and ability to multitask on a daily basis, working both with a team and independently.
