    Compliance Specialist II

    Fully Remote - Local San Francisco Bay Area Candidates

    Summary:

    The focus of this position is to seek an Environmental Compliance Engineer with strong, demonstrated skills in material and environmental compliance requirements, ideally in the consumer electronics space. The ability to handle multiple projects at the same time while being able to keep each on track and communicate issues with concise and actionable input is essential.

    Tasks include:

    • Work with compliance leads to collect necessary material and compliance data to support product certification.
    • Conduct ROHS data collection and testing to form a full ROHS package, for each device and accessory
    • Work with cross-functional teams to validate environmental compliance of new accessory partners and verify results
    • Register and report with global regulatory bodies as required.
    • Build a database of material compliance data collected from vendors and partners.
    • Attend all environmental compliance symposiums and report updates / changes to new or pending regulations.

    Qualifications:

    • Familiarity with material restrictions of consumer electronics or wearable products.
    • Understanding of the European Union directives on electronics, packaging, and battery waste including manufacturers obligations.
    • Understanding of the European Union REACH and RoHS chemicals regulations.
    • Familiarity with the requirements of California's Proposition 65.
    • Hardware circularity and sustainable design considerations.
    • Experience working with external test labs to develop test plans and deliver results clearly and to schedule.
    • Work with cross-functional and compliance teams to gather requirements.
    • Coordinating with suppliers and contract manufacturers to initiate materials data collection all the way to achieving device-level environmental compliance is a must.
    • Prior experience in the fast-paced consumer electronics industry.
    • Run post-production audits of in market products to confirm continued compliance.
    • Provide accurate environmental project data and status on request.
    • Generating accurate environmental compliance status for communication to leadership.
    • File regular/annual reports or register with the worldwide environmental agencies.
