Requirements and Qualifications
- U.S. citizenship
- 18 years of age or older
- Current enrollment in an accredited undergraduate or graduate program at a college or university Students in any major or field of study are welcome to apply.
- Available to work 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday
- Clean pre-employment background check
- Communication skills necessary to succeed in a collaborative team atmosphere
- Interest in learning a variety of business fields
Who should apply?
The AOS welcomes applications from candidates from all backgrounds, who are currently enrolled in a full-time undergraduate or graduate degree program, in any field, from accredited Ohio and bordering state colleges and universities. Students of all backgrounds and schools are encouraged to apply.
How long does the internship last?
- Eight Weeks (Summer Months)
- Monday through Friday
- 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.
- Students have the option to return home on weekends

The Future Leaders Fellowship provides hands-on work experience for college students who are motivated by public service and a desire to give back to their communities. Students might be engaging in their first internship or want to build their confidence in a professional setting. This internship is intended to provide a unique work experience and build practical skills to benefit the student's long-term career path and community involvement.

Program Overview
The Future Leaders Fellowship offers hands-on work experience for college students who are motivated by public service and a desire to give back to their communities. The fellowship is designed to provide a broad, practical introduction to professional work, helping participants build confidence, develop transferable skills, and prepare for long-term career and civic engagement.
The Future Leaders Fellowship is an immersive, 8-week program in which students are provided housing, transportation to and from the Downtown Columbus AOS office, and an interactive work experience that includes hands-on mentorship and presentations from Governmental and Private sector leaders such as:
Judge James Green of Franklin County Municipal Court
Columbus City Schools
Worthington City Schools
Franklin County Treasurer, Auditor, and Board of Commissioners
John Parms CPA firm
Jones Day law firm
The Ohio Society of CPAs
The Future Leaders program allows participants to experience a variety of career paths, including Auditing, Finance, Human Resources, and Information Technology. While our typical financial audit internship is for experienced accounting students, this program is designed for undergraduate and graduate students, of any major, who are attending Ohio and bordering state colleges and universities.
