Job summary: Responsible for applying assembly skills necessary to perform basic functions for custom fire and rescue vehicles; Utilizing power and hand tools to complete each task with optimum efficiency.
Electrical: Basic Wiring and installation of lighting and other electrical components.
Mechanical: General assembly and installation of mechanical components, accessories, and hardware on vehicles.
Responsibilities:
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Must be able to ensure manufacturing, quality, and safety requirements are met.
2. Work from shop orders, specifications, in-house and customer reports, manuals, schematics, prints, diagrams, quality lists, production schedules, pre-shipment inspection lists, customer generated discrepancy lists, and instructions.
3. As necessary, diagnose problems, establish root cause, disassemble units, and determine extent of repairs. Identify material requirements, rebuild and repair any range of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic units and software. Reassemble and test components to meet all applicable and required standards.
4. Review reported operational malfunctions. Analyze data, identify root cause, and coordinate resolution with responsible party. Identify, locate, remove and replace parts or components, and make required adjustments. Retrofit or modify product to meet engineering and/or customer changes.
5. Set up prescribed tests to check the operation of electrical components, including lights, sirens, radios, and warning systems. Diagnose problems, locate source of trouble, rewire or replace units as required. Be able to trace wires, examine connections, and replace wiring and/or connectors. Test operation and reassemble repaired units.
6. Set up, change over, and operate the complete range of equipment and machine tools in the assigned area.
7. Capable of performing scrubs of print packages, BOM's, and shop orders; correct discrepancies.
8. Be a technical advisor to the supervisor and assist with planning of daily activities and accomplishing weekly/daily commitments.
9. EVT qualification and AC Certification not required but appreciated.
10. Assist the supervisor in the training and orientation of new and transferred team members into the department.
11. Must be able to perform within physical requirements including but not limited to 40 lb single person lift; kneeling, squatting and standing for long periods of time. Ability to wear fall protection devices as needed when working at heights above 4 feet.
12. Must be able to participate in LEAN and continuous improvement activities.
13. Must be able to operate hand and power tools.
OTHER DUTIES MAY INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
Perform or assist with any operations, as required or directed, to maintain work flow or respond to production requirements.
TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USED:
Air and power driven tools including but not limited to: hand drills, drill press, impact gun, grinders, die grinders, cut off wheels, DA sanders, dynafiles, wrenches, air guns, heat guns, stud welders, electrical test stand, volt meter, amp meter, computer, engine/transmission data reader, and overhead crane; fork truck training and operation required.
Valid Driver's License required to drive company vehicles.
POSITION EXPECTATIONS:
1. SAFETY: Follow E-ONE General Health & Safety Rules, ensure safe operating conditions within area of responsibility, and notify coworkers and supervisors of hazardous acts and conditions. Proper use of PPE; use only defect-free equipment. Promote safety in department. Use proper lifting techniques and overhead hoist when needed. Maintain clean and safe working environment in line with 5-S Philosophy. Participate in hazardous communication training and safety meetings.
2. QUALITY: Responsible for the quality of work. This requires defect-free work and understanding of the requirements of the company's quality system as it pertains to job duties and responsibilities. Must be able to check work to ensure conformance to process control instructions, specifications, and quality standards. Identify and segregate non-
conforming product. Identify the need for and assist in initiating and implementing corrective and preventive actions when appropriate.
3. FLEXIBILITY: Able and willing to work in other areas as needed. Must be flexible in taking lunch and breaks when workflow requires. Willing and able to meet overtime requirements as necessary.
4. INITIATIVE: Actively participate in continuous improvement of products and processes to better serve customers and improve the overall profitability of E-ONE. Actively seek out work in other areas when current assignment is complete. Make suggestions for improving product quality, processes, safety, and company profitability.

1. Lift/Push/Pull- Exerting up to 40 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

3. Stooping- Bending body downward and forward by bending spine at the waist.
4. Kneeling- Bending legs at knee to come to a rest on knee or knees.
5. Crouching/Crawling/Reaching - Bending the body downward and forward by bending leg and spine. Moving about on hands and knees or hands and feet. Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction.
6. Standing- Particularly for sustained periods of time.
7. Walking- Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly for long distances or moving from one work site to another.
8. The worker is required to have visual acuity to perform an activity such as: operating machines such as lathes, drill presses, power saws and mills where the seeing job is at or within arm's reach; performing mechanical tasks of a non-repetitive nature such as carpenters, technicians, service people, plumbers, painters, mechanics, etc. The worker is required to have visual acuity to operate motor vehicles or heavy equipment

The pay scale for newly hired employees in this position at this location in New York is $16.50 -$18.50. This is based on meeting all of the requirements of the role.
