    : Job Summary:

    Develops, implements, and oversees strategies and programs to enable compliance with applicable federal, state, and local Environmental Health and Safety (EH&S) regulatory requirements, and organizational EH&S and Workplace Safety (WPS) policies and standards with minimal day-to-day supervision. Assists with implementation, evaluation, monitoring, and enhancement of Environmental Health and Safety programs with minimal supervision. Contributes to employee safety and protection through implementing aspects of Environmental Health and Safety programs and training efforts with minimal guidance. Ensures high-quality service by resolving basic issues and acting as a resource on EH&S and WPS matters with minimal day-to-day supervision. Recognizes and assesses hazards and risks by developing and implementing best practices for identifying, analyzing, documenting, and communicating workplace environmental health and safety risk trends according to general guidelines. Prepares high-quality analysis and reports regarding the state of environmental health and safety according to general guidelines. Contributes to risk control by following general direction to promote workplace safety and compliance and evaluate the effectiveness of measures to improve workplace safety outcomes.

    • Adheres to compliance standards with minimal day-to-day supervision by: developing, implementing, and overseeing strategies and programs to enable compliance with applicable federal, state, and local Environmental Health and Safety (EH&S) regulatory requirements, and organizational EH&S and Workplace Safety (WPS) policies and standards, with minimal day-to-day supervision; participating in and serving as a liaison for all EH&S regulatory, accreditation, and grant agency inspections and surveys (e.g., The Joint Commission [TJC], Environmental Protection Agency [EPA], Division of Occupational Health and Safety [DOHS], Occupational Safety and Health Administration [OSHA], State Fire Marshall, state and public health county inspections); upholding Kaiser Permanentes Policies and Procedures and Principles of Responsibilities, with general directions; beginning to plan and schedule for the completion and submission of regulatory reports within appropriate time frames, with general guidance; and learning and broadly applying process changes to support efficient and effective compliance.
    • Supports training and continuous learning about Environmental Health and Safety by: engaging in training and development as directed and integrating learning and feedback into daily work tasks; presenting safety education and training programs for management and staff with some supervision (e.g., proper use of tools, procedures, and safety measures; environmental hazards and risks); and participating in and assisting with implementation of assessments to measure and ensure training effectiveness with minimal direction.

    • Supports safety practices by: ensuring employee safety and protection by educating employees, leaders, and other key stakeholders on employee safety; reporting, investigating, and analyzing employee safety incidents as needed with minimal guidance; conducting safety-related activities for all employees in collaboration with Employee Health with minimal guidance; and implementing changes to the employee safety program with minimal day-to-day supervision.
    • Supports Health and Safety programs with minimal day-to-day supervision by: assisting with the implementation of environmental health and safety programs with minimal supervision; conducting standard assessments and analyses to evaluate health and safety programs with general supervision; and consistently making recommendations to enhance existing programs based on analyses and observations.

    • Contributes to risk control by: assisting with implementation of changes that promote workplace safety and compliance (e.g., accident prevention, hazardous materials management, fire/life safety) with minimal supervision; and assisting with the evaluation of change effectiveness on workplace safety outcomes, with limited guidance.
    • Pursues self-development; acknowledges strengths and weaknesses based on career goals and takes appropriate development action to leverage / improve them.
    • Contributes to high-quality service by: responding to complaints and resolving standard issues with minimal day-to-day supervision, escalating as needed; and acting as a consultant/resource for local administration, managers, physicians, and staff on basic Environmental Health and Safety (EH&S) and Workplace Safety (WPS) matters (e.g., environmental management, industrial hygiene, safety).
    • Assesses and responds to the needs of others to support a business outcome.
    Minimum Qualifications:
    • Associates degree in Environmental Health and Safety, Natural Science, Engineering, Emergency Management, or related field AND Minimum one (1) year of experience in environmental health and safety, risk management, or directly related field OR Minimum two (2) years of experience in environmental health and safety, risk management, or a directly related field.
