Compensation Range:
$ $82.45 / Hour*12-hour shifts at Huntington Health involve overtime pay (not a straight time rate for all 12 hours). This means employees working a full 12-hour shift will receive their base rate for 8 hours along with overtime (1.5x) for hours up to 12.Department:
701000 Emergency ServicesExpectations:
**Job Responsibilities**: Coordinate patient care to address identified needs of patients and their families. Supervise patient care management using critical thinking and nursing process, discharge planning, resource identification, scheduling required services for patients, monitoring care delivery, advocating for patients, care planning, and assessing outcomes. Collaborate with the healthcare team to ensure continuity of patient care and support the individual needs of each patient. This role may require flexibility in work hours.EDUCATION:
A Bachelor's degree (BSN) is mandatory. An Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) will be considered if enrolled in a BSN program with completion within 2 years of hiring or transferring to an RN position. Submission of diploma or transcripts for the highest degree earned is necessary.
EXPERIENCE/TRAINING:
At least 1 year of current experience in an acute care setting or equivalent service area is required, with a preference for 2 years. Experience in trauma nursing is advantageous. Successful completion of the Basic Dysrhythmia course curriculum within 21 days of employment is mandatory. For new employees in the Emergency Department, passing the ED Core Curriculum and completing the required on-unit preceptorship are essential. Basic computer skills and experience with computerized documentation systems are also required.
LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS:
**Mandatory:**
- Current unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license issued by the California Board of Registered Nursing (BRN)
- Current Basic Life Support Provider (BLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support Provider (PALS), and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support Provider (ACLS) certifications issued by the American Heart Association
- Current National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification within 30 days of hiring or transferring
**Preferred:**
- Current Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN) or relevant certification
SKILLS:
Completion of the ENPC certification within six months of employment for full-time and part-time employees is obligatory, focusing on trauma patient care. For Mobile Intensive Care Nurses (MICN):
1. Demonstrates comprehension of standards as per Los Angeles County (LACO) Guidelines of Prehospital Care.
2. Participates in the Quality Improvement process stipulated by the LACO Base Station Contract.
3. Regularly attends and contributes to monthly Base Station Meetings.
4. Sustains Mobile Intensive Care Nurse Certification Requirements and engages in mandatory continuing education specified by the LACO Base Station Contract and Huntington Memorial Hospital Policy and Procedures.
5. Maintains objective communication with Prehospital and Emergency Medical Services personnel and liaises with the Prehospital Care Coordinator on unresolved prehospital care concerns.
