The Plasma Protein Therapeutics Association (PPTA) seeks a

Director, Lead for Government Affairs

to represent the Association before Congress and federal agencies.

Position Summary:

The Director, Government Relations will develop and implement effective government affairs strategies to promote the Association's mission, raise awareness, and educate congressional and agency staff on health policy issues affecting the industry.

The Director will develop and launch targeted advocacy programs with Congress and HHS.

The Director will also collaborate with the Head of Global Communications and Lead for Public Affairs to develop collateral in support of advocacy positions.

Essential Functions:
Strengthen the network of congressional and HHS agency contacts.
Enhance the Association's profile on Capitol Hill as a trusted partner to raise awareness of plasma-derived therapies.
Become thoroughly familiar with the substance and strategy regarding all PPTA's legislative and health policy priorities. Use this knowledge to assist the Senior Vice President, North America, with developing and implementing advocacy strategies.
Positively impact legislation and health policies that will advance patient access.
Contribute to PPTA's annual conference and congressional Fly-in preparation.

Duties & Responsibilities:
Develop legislative/regulatory strategy and tactics, including coalition building.
Develop industry positions in collaboration with member companies.

With a focus on public payors, work in a matrix with the Head of Communications and Lead for Public Affairs to develop relevant materials to raise awareness on the value of plasma-derived therapies and differentiate them from other biologics and pharmaceuticals.

Plan and execute Capitol Hill Fly-In.
Manage health policy and advocacy consultants.
Administer PPTA's federal lobbying law compliance, including but not limited to timely submission of lobbying reports.
Write updates on federal activities for the Source magazine and other Association publications as assigned.
Prepare position papers, issue briefing reports and summaries as directed.
Travel as necessary.
Other duties as assigned.
