    About the job EEG Technologist

    Our client is hiring for a full-time or part-time Ambulatory Set-Up EEG Technologist in Rocky Hill, CT

    The Ambulatory Set-Up EEG Technolosts are responsible for performing potentially 3 different types of EEG tests: Routines, Video Ambulatory EEG testing, and/or set-up of Long-Term EEG study patients. This includes preparing the patient for testing, collecting data, performing administrative items, and signing additional paperwork. The Technologist may also be responsible for data communication to servers and equipment maintenance.

    Primary Responsibilities:

    Routine EEGs

    Performs standard and complex EEGs by measuring the patients head, utilizing the International 10-20 Measurement System, and applies electrodes to appropriate positions. Measures electrode impedance, calibrates and adjusts EEG machine. Obtains recordings using activating procedures such as hyperventilation, photic stimulation, and sleep. Adapts methods and instrumentation to obtain optimal results based on history, clinical observations, and EEG findings.

    Ambulatory EEGs

    Ambulatory EEGs are set up and disconnected at the referring physicians practice, hospital clinic, or patients home. EEG recording is long-term (up to 72 hours). Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
    • Prepare and calibrate equipment required for testing to determine proper functioning and make adjustments, if necessary.
    • Greeting patients at the setup location
    • Obtain a summary of the patients history and current medications and supporting documentation.
    • Setting up the EEG recording and electrodes pm the patient using the international 10-20 measurement configuration.
    • Perform appropriate physiologic calibrations to ensure proper signals and make adjustments, if necessary
    • Demonstrating for the patient basic functionalities of the EEG recording equipment, the patient event log, the recording process, and answering any questions from the patient.
    • Remaining available for phone conferences and/or remote troubleshooting of EEG recording during the ambulatory recording period
    • Greeting patients in the location for the disconnect appointment.
    • Reviewing the patient event log with the patient for accuracy of times and clinical information
    • Uploading the ambulatory EEG study and attaching the event log onto Company servers
    • Removing, cleaning, and inventorying EEG recording device from the patient during the disconnect time
    Set-Up EEG for Long Term Patients
    • Provide set-up of Long-term Hospital based EEG patients, including patient prep, lead placement, equipment setup, and calibration, in conjunction working with and orienting hospital staff regarding the EEG procedure
    • Provide technical proficiency for basic digital EEG. EEG Technologists will utilize the 10-20 system of electrode placement to include manual measurements, skin prep, and electrode application. Provide proper knowledge of montage selection based on patient condition. At the completion of all studies, properly removes electrodes, clean patient/equipment, and process documents.
    • Provide critical thinking and skill to recognize and correct artifacts accordingly. EEG Technologists can successfully troubleshoot equipment and leads appropriately.
    • Potentially check the EEG system during ongoing recordings and data transfer to the reading station.
    Requirements
    • Education: High school graduate or GED equivalent.
    • Some Experience in EEG / Neurodiagnostic /Sleep diagnostic field or College level coursework in EEG fundamentals and graduate of ASET accredited school preferred
    • R.EEG T preferred but not required.
    • EEG experience preferred but not required.
    • Skills / Other familiarity with Microsoft Windows environment and Office Suite helpful.
    • Must have a valid US Drivers license with an acceptable driving record.
    • CPR certificate required prior to hiring.
    • Sleep Techs/ Medical assistants/CNAs/Surgical Techs are encouraged to apply - Training will be provided
    Work Environment/ Physical Demands
    • Technologists will lift as many as two cases in and out of your vehicle to the testing site. Along with moving equipment after setting up the patient to areas of the patients residence to ascertain optimal testing performance. The average case weight is less than 25 lbs.
    • Disconnecting patients is also part of the primary duties of the Technologist when requested by the patient care coordinators as needed. Disconnect Technicians (DT) may be assigned these tasks as they become available, should there not be a DT available, the Technologist will perform this task.
    • In the performance of this job, the employee may be exposed to chemical vapors such as acetone, ether, or glutaraldehyde. There may also be skin contact with these substances. The employee may also be exposed to infectious agents, including blood-borne pathogens.
    • Driving to the patient testing location is required, and testing will be performed in various testing facilities, locations, and settings.
