Opportunity:

RN - Med Surg Tele

Job Details:

• Work night shifts, 36 hours per week in 13-week contracts

• ED Holding Support position located in the float pool within the Emergency Department

• Care for patients waiting for inpatient beds with any medical/surgical adult diagnosis

• Patient ratios: 1:7 for MS/Tele patients or 1:4 for PCU level patients

• Float to ED and MedSurg areas as needed based on census and skill sets

• Every other weekend requirement

• Maximum 7 days RTO allowed

• Must pass EKG testing prior to start

• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS

• 12 hours of unit orientation

• 2 years minimum nursing experience required

• Travel experience required

• Navy scrubs required

• Must be comfortable with high acuity, fast-paced environment

• Required skills include telemetry monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, blood product administration, peripheral line care, phlebotomy, PICC line management, colostomy care, feeding tube management, chest tube care, CPAP/BiPAP, high flow nasal cannula, ABG interpretation, and tracheostomy management

• Preferred skills include NIHSS, IV insulin protocols, hemodialysis management, port access, central line management, IV starts, CVA care, neuro surgery care, spinal cord injuries, traumatic brain injury, ortho trauma, joint replacements, and wound care

• Use of Epic documentation system, Pyxis medication system, and SBAR communication

• Manager scheduling with fatigue policy limiting work to maximum 5 consecutive days or 60 hours per week

• Must work 2 out of 3 major holidays

• Expected to work Storm Team/Hurricane Team during catastrophic events

Facility:

This healthcare organization operates a comprehensive medical center featuring an Emergency Department with an inpatient holding area (EDIP) for patients awaiting bed placement. The facility maintains a 30-bed unit with high patient volume, seeing approximately 52 visits per day. The organization provides full interdisciplinary support including respiratory services, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, pharmacy, and transportation services. The facility utilizes modern technology including cardiac monitors, IV pumps, and other standard monitoring systems to support patient care in this fast-paced, high-acuity environment.
