- The position involves a hybrid work arrangement, with onsite attendance at our Salt Lake City metro area office expected at least 3 times per week.
Job Summary
Knowledge, experience and understanding of risk management processes and how to apply these throughout the entire organization to protect people, property, and profits. Oversee daily operations and administration of tenant insurance program and improve profitability in the program through loss mitigation measures. Manage and improve technology, systems, and processes for gathering information for incident reports, claims management programs, claims mitigation, and some of the associated vendors. Use analytical skills to further internal strategy by harnessing data to make decisions, reduce losses and improve insurance program profitability.
Duties & Responsibilities
Risk Control & Analysis
- Use data and analytics to identify trends in losses and make recommendations based on your findings.
- Use data and analytics to drive and influence policy that will improve profitability of tenant insurance program.
- Build relationships across the organization to influence change to policy and processes that will reduce tenant insurance claims.
- Work with outside partners and internal stakeholders on loss control and compliance activities which will include occasional travel.
- Work with corporate team members and field operations on program management and improvements.
Risk Identification & Education
- Reviews and assesses risk management policies and protocols; makes recommendations and implements modifications and improvements, once consensus is achieved.
- Present information and training material to all levels of the organization on certain risk topics, concisely.
- Oversee risk management analyst who assists with some of these responsibilities and is responsible for most of the routine reporting.
- Support and assist in developing risk management analyst on more complex tasks and time management skills.
- Responsible for monthly reporting including financial and operational data.
- Manage projects within the program designed to mitigate losses, including shared responsibilities with others in the organization.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree with experience in some of the duties listed above. Additional credentials such as project management, MBA degree, or other Risk Management credentials are a plus as well as Finance and Accounting related certifications.
- 3-5 years of relevant risk or related experience.
Competencies
- Work as part of a small team, sharing roles and knowledge to help all team members.
- Build relationships to contribute to process improvement across the risk organization.
- Utilize analytical skills to make informed decisions; collaborate with others on decision-making.
- Familiar with best practices is risk management and risk management technology.
- Excellent written and spoken communication skills with an interest in becoming a subject matter expert on topics surrounding risk management and the tenant insurance program.
- Intermediate to advanced excel skills and an interest in expanding those skills and sharing knowledge with others on the team.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
Performs sedentary work in an office environment with limited lifting (less than 10 pounds) or walking required. Close visual acuity required to perform work at computer terminal. No exposure to adverse environmental conditions. Requires repetitive typing motion, talking, hearing, grasping and feeling.
